About Indeed
Indeed runs job search in more than 60 countries, and the people on it are there because they are looking for work. That is the reason to use it: when the right candidate is job hunting now and knows what the role is called, Indeed is where they are likely to find the vacancy.
Indeed describes itself as the world's number one job site, measured by Comscore on total visits in March 2026. Candidates use it like a search engine: they type a job title and a place, then compare what comes back. That favours roles people look for by name, such as warehouse, retail, customer support, hospitality, administration and the trades.
Where the shortlist depends on people who are not searching, add a professional network where people keep a career profile and can be reached by employer, title and skills. For volume hiring the roles swap: Indeed carries the weight and the network becomes the optional half.

How to post a job on Indeed
One account for Indeed and every other hiring channel, your team and all applications.
Write your job ad
Write it once in Join; the same ad goes to Indeed and every other channel you pick.
Publish to Indeed
It goes to Indeed by default, included in your Join plan. For more reach, add a paid product. Applications come back to Join.
Posting directly on Indeed, without Join
Indeed may already have imported the vacancy from a careers site or ATS, so check the employer dashboard before creating a duplicate. For a new direct post, prepare the role details, pay, benefits, description, screening criteria and application route before opening Indeed's guided form.
- Sign in to the employer dashboard, open Jobs → All Jobs and confirm that the vacancy has not already been imported from your careers site or another ATS.
- If no listing exists, select Post a Job and enter a clear job title, the hiring company, workplace location and whether the role is on-site, hybrid or remote.
- Add the employment type, pay range, schedule and benefits. Use real terms for the role rather than promotional wording that could weaken relevance or trigger review.
- Paste or write the full description with responsibilities, required qualifications and practical employment details, then preview how the advert will read to candidates.
- Add screening questions and choose how applications should be received and managed. Check that every required answer reflects a genuine hiring condition.
- Review the complete advert, choose an eligible free post or configure sponsorship, confirm any budget details and submit the job for Indeed's review.

Indeed job posting requirements
What the ad needs· 9
The real work location
The ad states where the job really is, including any travel or relocation it involves.
Pay, hours, benefits and duties spelled out
The ad names the company and spells out pay (including whether it is salary, base plus commission or commission only), hours, benefits and duties.
Remote, hybrid or on-site, stated
The ad says whether the job is remote, hybrid or on-site; a fully remote role also names where candidates may be based.
A real company name
The ad carries the hiring company's real name; generic or “Confidential” names are hidden or limited to paid placement.
A plain job title
The title is the name of the job as it would appear on a business card — no locations, keywords or slogans bolted on.
A simple way to apply
Applying has to be straightforward. Routing candidates through extra sign-ups or off-site steps can get the ad removed.
Authorisation from the hiring company
Whoever posts must be authorised by the company doing the hiring, and able to answer for the role.
Who is hiring: the company or an agency
The ad has to say whether the hiring company or an agency is behind it, along with the true location and duties.
Filled roles taken down
Filled or withdrawn roles have to be taken down or marked expired. Leaving them live risks a manual penalty.
What to avoid· 12
Agency jobs on the free listing
Staffing and recruitment agencies can only post as paid jobs (promoted or sponsored); the free listing is for direct employers.
Different roles in one ad
One ad, one role. Several hires for the same role are fine; different roles in one ad, or an open call for applications, are not.
Reposting to look fresh
Re-posting the same role to look fresh, or spreading it across more locations than it is actually offered in, is not allowed.
Posts that aren't a real vacancy
The post has to be a real, open vacancy: product promotion, paid courses, MLM, franchise or pyramid schemes and posts that harvest candidate data are taken off.
Unpaid positions
Unpaid positions may not be advertised at all.
Fees for candidates
Candidates may never be asked to pay a fee at any point in the process.
Photos or ID at the application stage
Photos, identity documents, bank details and similar personal data may not be requested with the application.
Ads copied from a careers site
Adverts copied from a company's own careers site may not be republished without that company's knowledge and authorisation.
Keyword stuffing
Repeated keywords, competitor names or strings of job titles meant to climb the search results get the ad hidden.
Spam-style or careless writing
All caps, emoji, stacked punctuation, egregious typos or unfinished sentences count against the ad; write it in full, professional sentences.
Offensive or unlawful content
Offensive, explicit, defamatory or unlawful text or images are refused or taken down.
Discriminatory criteria
The ad may not screen candidates on protected characteristics such as age, gender, origin, religion, disability or sexual orientation. Local employment law applies on top.
