Gross fixed salary per year for a senior Frontend Engineer (7 to 12+ years of experience) at a German SMB or Mittelstand company. Berlin, Munich and Hamburg in the SaaS/scale-up environment pull upward (92-118 k€); classic Mittelstand and provincial locations trend lower (60-75 k€). Deep ownership of a design system, a track record in performance and accessibility work, and technical leadership (mentoring, architecture decisions) pull noticeably upward. Engineering roles in Germany usually have no variable compensation component; scale-ups add VSOP/ESOP on top, which matters more at senior level.
