Rico is a fast-growing New Zealand startup on a mission to make the resource consent process radically simpler, faster, and cheaper. We build software that helps planners and councils prepare and process planning applications more efficiently and consistently.
If you've ever built a house, developed land, or worked in local government, or know someone who has, you'll likely know how painful this process can be. Billions of dollars of economic activity move through it every year, yet it remains slow, fragmented, and costly. We're fixing that.
We're a nimble, high-ownership team where your work has an immediate and visible impact. No red tape, no waiting six months to see results - just great people solving real problems.

Tasks
The Role
We're growing fast - and our sales pipeline is proving it. We're looking for an Account Manager to to own the relationships that turn early conversations into long-term partnerships.
That means nurturing the councils we're already in contact with, keeping our consultant customers close and well-served, and being the person who connects each customer to the right part of our business. As a small growing company, there isn't a rigid playbook - you'll own a portfolio of relationships and have the autonomy to decide how best to move each one forward.
Flagship and brand-new council relationships stay growth-led. Your focus is the councils we've already opened a door with, and our existing consultant base.
What You'll Be Doing
- Owning customer relationships - building trusted, senior relationships across councils and consultants, and being the face of Rico for the accounts you hold.
- Progressing councils - nurturing the councils we're already in contact with through what can be a long, multi-stakeholder journey: keeping momentum alive, staying close to the right people, and moving them toward signing and active use.
- Maintaining our consultant base - keeping consultant customers engaged, renewed and getting real value, and spotting opportunities for them to do more with Rico.
- Connecting customers to the business - pulling in the right people at the right time: the founders for flagship or strategic conversations, our planning experts for subject-matter questions, and onboarding or product where needed.
- Staying on top of follow-ups - maintaining detailed, disciplined records in Pipedrive so every relationship has a clear next step and nothing slips through.
- Relaying insight from the front line - feeding what you hear from customers back into the business to help shape onboarding and product.
If you're someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys working with people, and wants to genuinely contribute to how a company grows - this one's for you.

- ~1-5 years in a customer-facing role - onboarding, customer success, implementation, sales or similar.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills - you're clear, proactive, and people enjoy working with you.
- A self-starter mindset - at a startup, you won't always have a playbook. You'll need to figure things out and back yourself.
- Familiarity with tools like Notion, Pipedrive, or Google Workspace is a plus.
- Any knowledge of resource management, planning, or local government is a bonus, else we have subject matter experts on hand.
