Rico

Rico is a planning tech start-up building software to support resource consent/development application processes across New Zealand and Australia (so far...).

Our lead product creates a structured worflow that brings together all the information planners need to carry out an assessment, while reducing time spent on administration, formatting, and rework. This allows planners to focus more on analysis and judgment while maximizing efficiency and consistency.

We have been working closely with councils and planning consultancies over the past years to develop our solution and address real, day-to-day planning challenges.
Hundreds of planning assessments are completed using Rico each month, reflecting our focus on solving practical problems and supporting planners in their everyday work.

Our mission is to make planning assessments clearer, more consistent, and easier to carry out in practice.

We focus on reducing unnecessary administrative effort and rework in planning processes, so planners can spend more time on analysis, professional judgement, and understanding impacts. By improving how assessments are structured and supported, we aim to strengthen the quality and consistency of planning decisions.

Through practical software built in close collaboration with planners, we support better day-to-day planning outcomes for councils, applicants, and communities across New Zealand and Australia.
