ProtectDefenders .eu is the European Union Human Rights Defenders Mechanism, established in 2015 and led by a consortium of 12 international and regional human rights organisations. It provides emergency assistance, temporary relocation, legal and psychosocial support, and capacity-building to human rights defenders at risk worldwide, supporting over 10,000 defenders in more than 110 countries every year.
