As GIS Developer at Positium, you will be building the world's most sophisticated mobile positioning data processing software, developing GIS systems around the world, exploring the optimisation of spatial processing algorithms, etc. You will join our team of developers and data scientists, who are building large-scale solutions.

Tasks

  • Participating in client projects and internal product development flows from the start until the end.
  • Doing system analysis and designing the system architecture for spatial and data analysis projects.
  • Building and designing state-of-the-art GIS applications.
  • Implementing and maintaining a reliable GIS architecture of data processing systems, APIs and spatial database management systems.
  • Advising clients in terms of GIS questions.
  • Proactively focusing on learning about new technological possibilities that enable building faster back-end components and cool front-end solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 4–5 years of experience in building GIS applications and systems.
  • A very good knowledge of SQL, relational and spatial databases, like MS SQL, PostgreSQL+PostGIS and/or Oracle Spatial.
  • Practical experience working with GIS tools like ESRI ArcGIS Pro or MapInfo, ArcGIS Enterprise solutions, QGIS Desktop, QGIS Server, etc.
  • Practical experience with at least one of the following programming languages or environments: Python, Java, or C.
  • Understanding of web-based GIS applications (Leaflet, OpenLayers, etc) and APIs;
  • Understanding of OGC standards and best practices.
  • Understanding of base maps, routing, service layers, raster and vector content.
  • Being a team player with great communication skills.
  • Good speaking and writing skills in English.
  • We expect the candidate to already be located in Estonia and have a right to work here.
