We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Government and Institutional Affairs Manager to join our team at OQ Technology, a leading provider of satellite connectivity and defense solutions. This position will focus on building and maintaining strategic relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and institutional stakeholders to support the company’s objectives, advocacy efforts, and growth within the defense and aerospace sectors.
The ideal candidate will have a background in government relations, space or defense policy, and a thorough understanding of the political landscape in which defense and satellite technology operate. The candidate must have a technical/engienerign background. The position may grow in future to Senior Managerial level.
Tasks
Government Relations & Advocacy:
- Develop and implement government relations strategies to promote the company’s interests at the national, European levels.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and government officials, space and defense agencies, and legislators.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments that affect the satellite technology and defense industry.
- Advocate for the company’s position on defense and aerospace-related issues, including satellite technology, national and EU security, and defense procurement processes.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and senior leadership teams to shape policy strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Institutional Affairs & Partnerships:
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including space agencies, defense contractors, think tanks, international organizations, and industry associations.
- Represent the company in institutional forums, working groups, and trade shows to support policy goals and business development efforts.
- Assist in the negotiation of public-private partnerships and strategic alliances with governmental agencies and other institutional entities.
- Strategic Communications & Reporting:
- Develop clear and compelling communication materials, including policy briefs, position papers, and talking points, to support the company's government and institutional relations efforts.
- Provide regular reports to senior leadership on government affairs, policy changes, and trends in the defense and satellite sectors.
- Advise executive leadership on the political environment and its impact on the company’s strategic objectives.
- Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure the company’s compliance with government regulations and space and defense industry standards.
- Work closely with internal teams to address potential risks related to policy changes, legislative actions, and government contracts.
- Public Affairs & Outreach:
- Coordinate with the public relations and communications teams to manage the company’s public image, including responding to media inquiries and preparing statements on government-related matters.
- Monitor public sentiment and perceptions of the company’s role in the satellite technology, telecommunicaitons, and defense sectors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred, Engineering background is also preferred).
- 4-6 years of experience in space or defense government relations, public policy, or institutional affairs, being in defense, aerospace, or technology sectors is a must.
- In-depth knowledge of: NATO and European space or defense policy and ecosystem, satellite technology (preferably in telecommunicaitons), national security issues, and/or relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Proven track record of working with government agencies, legislative bodies, and institutional stakeholders.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to analyze complex regulatory issues and provide strategic guidance.
- Familiarity with defense procurement processes and government contracting.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to travel internaitonally with no restriction.
- The applicant is willing to relocate to Luxembourg and work on-site.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- In-depth understanding of the space landscape and defense industry regulations.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills (prfoessional)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related tools.
- The applicant MUST BE A NATO COUNTRY CITIZEN.
