Optotune is growing, internationally active optics company with offices in Switzerland and Slovakia. We design, manufacture, and market cutting-edge adaptive optical elements for both industrial and consumer applications.
Product Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient and high-quality product production. They collaborate with development, quality, and production teams to implement new products and resolve manufacturing issues.
Tasks
- Continuously improve yield and throughput by understanding root causes from a process and design perspective, troubleshooting process flow, contributing to a Lean Six Sigma culture, improving manufacturing efficiency
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure product designs are optimized for manufacturing processes
- Conduct root cause analyses to identify potential manufacturing challenges, optimize and maintaining manufacturing performance
- Optimize manufacturing processes, including tooling, fixtures, and assembly procedures
- Create process flow diagrams, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Implement appropriate manufacturing technologies and equipment
- Oversee the development and testing of prototypes to validate design and manufacturing processes
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and recommend improvements
- Support the transition of new products from development to production
- Manufacturing layout standardization
Requirements
- University degree in a technical discipline (preferably process engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, or a related field)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in driving improvement initiatives and innovation projects
- Hands-on experience with production technologies (e.g. PnP machines, plasma, laser, etc.)
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, 5 Why)
- Experience in designing, optimizing, and stabilizing manufacturing processes
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) into production environments
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive problem-solving mindset
- Practical experience with quality management tools (FMEA, Control Plan, flowcharts, SPC, 5S, etc.)
- Working knowledge of CAD tools and manufacturing technologies
- Strong communication skills in English and Slovak and ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
