Optotune is growing, internationally active optics company with offices in Switzerland and Slovakia. We design, manufacture, and market cutting-edge adaptive optical elements for both industrial and consumer applications.
The Product Development Engineer plays a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing new products from concept through to production. This position involves close collaboration with research, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure technical feasibility and product quality, resolve engineering challenges, and drive innovation within the company’s product portfolio.
Tasks
- Product development and collaboration with project team
- Drive design procurement testing and validation of new products
- Develop or build test equipment and fixtures for measurement and qualification activities
- Perform statistical analysis select relevant testing methods and verify product performance and quality
- Product verification, EVT, DVT and PVT testing and reporting
- Development and integration of testing equipment into production lines, including validation
- Create and maintain product and project documentation
- Supporting introduction of equipment into production (IQ, OQ, PQ)
- Supporting DFMEA and PFMEA during product and process development phases
- Support yield improvements and lead change requests in CMP process
Requirements
- University degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in product development or hardware engineering role
- Hands-on experience with product design, CAD tools (SolidWorks or AutoCAD), and understanding of manufacturing processes
- Ability to manage projects, coordinate team work, and meet deadlines
- Experience with introduction of equipment into production IQ OQ PQ and integration of test stations into production lines
- Experience with data analysis, testing methods, and interpretation of measurement results
- Experience with or strong motivation to use Python for test automation or data analysis
- Familiarity with FMEA, Gage R&R, DOE, SPC
- Ability to manage deliverables and coordinate workstreams across R&D and manufacturing & marketing teams
- Excellent knowledge of English and Slovak (proficiency)
