We are looking for an experienced Finance Director to lead the Finance team and support MODIFI in its mission to change the world of international trade. At MODIFI you will have a great opportunity to not only be a contributor to MODIFI's current business payments and global Buy-Now-Pay-Later offering, but also actively help develop systems and processes to support and enable the rapid growth of our business. This role is based in the Amsterdam office of MODIFI.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Be a part of the leadership team, responsible for the successful and sustainable growth of MODIFI, representing the company internally and externally

  • Build a strong relationship with the CFO and executives, working as a valued business partner, providing strategic forward-looking insights and supporting the commercial development of the company, as well as challenging where appropriate
  • Develop, train, hire and inspire a high performing team that contributes to a culture of teamwork and commitment to the company's success

FP&A

  • Develop and grow the FP&A and modelling function that can support decision making across all functions of the business
  • Manage data requests from third parties, including for investors, preparing concise and logical output
  • Review KPIs and performance measures that support the company's strategic direction and ensure that all reporting and forecasting is accurate and insightful

Accounting, Tax & Operational Finance

  • Establish, review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, compliance and financial procedures
  • Coordinate the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual accounts; analysing the company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets, issuing regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management
  • Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes
  • Manage third-party relations, including auditor, tax accountants, wage accountants etc

Treasury

  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts to ensure cash flow is healthy and appropriate for our financial plans
  • Challenge treasury management function to ensure we continue to improve our cost of capital; ensuring budgeting and cash flow management is aligned with business growth, free cash is earning positive interest and forex risks are low
  • Leverage financial data to drive strategic decision making whilst also providing a dynamic hands-on style of leadership, driving the ongoing professionalisation of the finance function.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in finance, including 3+ years’ leadership role. A solid understanding and experience across accounting functions
  • Currently operating as an experienced number two in finance, within an international FinTech/Financial Services business
  • Highly analytical with strong skills in financial analysis
  • The ideal candidate will have experience within a large organisation with a view of what “good” looks like, and also have experience in a smaller company having to set up new systems and processes
  • A structured and hardworking leader, able to coach and develop a driven finance team
  • Strong communication skills and high EQ; able to build strong relationships internally and with external stakeholders
  • A growth mindset: able to operate with flexibility within a fast paced environment
  • An enthusiastic team player: collaborative and low ego who is energised by MODIFI’s unique proposition
