KOIS has two practices: asset management and innovative finance advisory. This position belongs to the innovative finance advisory practice. Our advisory services arm designs, structures, and implements innovative financial solutions responding to key societal issues. We differentiate ourselves by innovating to offer the best fitted financing solution for each project responding to the unique needs and challenges in the sector.

About the Position

Are you passionate about pursuing a career in impact finance? KOIS is seeking a dynamic and passionate Innovative Finance Analyst to join our growing team in Nairobi. We seek candidates with experience in finance, strategy and innovation that are committed to having a strong impact on their community as well as on international development. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on pioneering projects at the intersection of finance and social impact. As part of our advisory practice, you will contribute to the design and implementation of innovative financial solutions addressing critical social and environmental challenges globally.

Tasks

Key Responsibilities

Design and Structuring of Financial Solutions:

  • Contribute to the development of innovative finance products, such as Development Impact Bonds and blended finance facilities.
  • Support feasibility assessments and structuring of bespoke financial instruments.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth data analysis and research on key societal issues, such as healthcare electrification, sexual and reproductive health, and climate resilience
  • Analyse market trends, funding opportunities, and policy developments to inform project strategies

Client Engagement and Support:

  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and propose tailored financial solutions.
  • Prepare clear and compelling presentations, pitches, and reports for diverse audiences.

Business Development:

Support business development efforts by contributing to proposal preparation.

Knowledge Building and Collaboration:

  • Stay abreast of trends in impact investing and innovative finance to bring fresh ideas and best practices to KOIS and its clients.
  • Collaborate with international teams across KOIS offices to deliver impactful projects.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Finance, Business, Economics, International Development, Public Administration). A Master’s degree is desirable but not required;
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in consulting, financial analysis, or impact finance;
  • Domain knowledge/experience in healthcare, education, livelihoods, climate and nature, or gender issues will also be considered favourably and should be specified;
  • Experience working in Africa.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (fluency in Swahili is a plus);
  • Ability to manage client relationships and communicate complex ideas effectively;
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and independent work style;
  • Demonstrable commitment to creating positive social and environmental impact;Flexibility to adapt to diverse projects and international teams.
