Klang Games is looking for a Lead Game Engineer (f/m/d) who enjoys a collaborative and creative work environment to help us drive the technical vision and execution for our ambitious MMO project, ensuring both high-quality code and effective team collaboration.
Tasks
- Mentor and manage a team of engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth, and providing candid feedback on their performance and areas for improvement.
- Lead the design and development of major game systems written in C# and built on a foundation of distributed systems and ECS architecture.
- Develop and oversee the technical strategy of your team, balancing effort with impact, evaluating technological solutions to align with project and business goals, and making tradeoffs between development speed, technical debt, and feature completeness.
- Collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines (including production, product, game design, UI/UX design, and art) in cross-functional teams, and fellow engineering leaders across the organization.
- Enhance our live operations capabilities by ensuring the game's stability, performance, and continuous improvement post-launch.
- Champion best practices, and guide the team in monitoring, incident handling, and optimizing live game performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a technical leadership role, with a track record of mentoring and managing engineering teams.
- 7+ years of professional programming experience with C# or C++.
- Proven ability to lead project planning sessions, set realistic timelines, and balance technical debt with feature development.
- Deep understanding of both client- and server-side aspects of modern game engines, and familiarity with ECS architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate and optimize complex systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on stakeholder management.
- Proven experience in live operations, both on the client and server side.
Bonus:
- Experience in developing and launching large-scale online multiplayer games.
- Proficiency in implementing and consuming network APIs (REST, gRPC, etc.).
- Background in distributed systems and actor frameworks (Akka, Orleans, etc.).
- Familiarity with modern web UI frameworks, enhancing the ability to work with EvolveUI.
