Our firm is looking for an experienced Auto Service Technician. A successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in automotive repair and will be intimately familiar with the function and repair of cars, trucks, vans and SUVs. This is a fast-paced position that demands quick decision-making, but also offers a structured work environment with opportunities for advancement. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses electrical, computer, driveline, suspension, A/C, hydraulic, diesel engines, brakes and all other components inclusive of Fire apparatus, Police vehicles, construction equipment and any other type of equipment associated with municipal operations.
  • Provides all facets of preventative maintenance necessary to comply with manufacturers recommendations and intervals.
  • Fabricates repairs and tools.
  • Completes North Carolina Emissions and Safety Inspections.
  • Responds to road calls of broken down city equipment, performs diagnosis and repair to the equipment on the road or prepares for tow into the shop.
  • Provides On Call services 24/7 after hours and on weekends when assigned.
  • Makes necessary repairs to the Fuel station and equipment.
  • Completes and updates work orders and necessary logs to comply with daily operations and required procedures.
  • Provides basic training to co-workers and customers for various fleet vehicle repairs.
  • Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
  • Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
  • Keep logs on work and issues
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition

Requirements

Qualifications and requirements

  • Experience in one or more of the following: engine repair, steering and suspension, brakes, heating and air conditioning
  • Knowledge of health and safety compliance
  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina, lift heavy objects, and walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced environment
  • Willingness to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
