We’re looking for an Interior Designer with a sharp eye for detail, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to ensure all properties maintain a consistently high standard of visual and functional readiness. Ideally, you’ll also bring experience in property management, but most importantly, you know what it means for a villa to be truly ‘guest-ready’ and can ensure that all aesthetic and maintenance standards are met.
Tasks
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing villas to ensure they meet ‘guest-ready’ standards — focusing on aesthetic appeal, layout, and overall guest experience
- Ensuring all finishes, styling, and furniture meet high aesthetic and functional standards, reflecting a cohesive brand experience
- Identifying opportunities to enhance interior design, including suggesting improvements to furnishings, layouts, and decorative elements to align with brand and luxury standards
- Conducting continuous inspections of all villas to maintain visual consistency in design and presentation quality
- Cross-checking the furnishing and styling checklists to ensure villas are attractively and appropriately equipped
- Flagging and reporting any design-related maintenance issues (e.g., finishes, fittings, wear and tear) to relevant team members for resolution
- Collaborating with the team to develop creative, guest-centric interiors that enhance the overall ambiance of the villas
- Providing creative input for design refreshes, seasonal updates, and styling enhancements across properties
- Creating and updating a list of trusted and skilled professionals (fundis) and engaging them as needed
- Negotiating rates, briefing professionals, and monitoring all external works
- Updating and managing property-related issues via digital tools like Asana
- Participating in meetings to align on aesthetic goals and review ongoing improvements
- Supporting general operations as needed
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in residential or hospitality interior design, preferably in high-end or luxury settings
- Strong eye for design, styling, and spatial planning, with the ability to create inviting, cohesive, and guest-ready spaces
- Familiarity with hospitality standards and guest experience design is a strong advantage
- Ability to assess spaces critically and make design-led recommendations for improvement
- Organized and excellent attention to detail and visual consistency across multiple properties
- Knowledge of sourcing furnishings and materials locally and efficiently
- Awareness of common property issues and the ability to assess the quality of repair work
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams
- Quick decision-maker with a problem-solving mindset when standards are not met
- Existing local network of skilled professionals is a strong plus
- Strong written and verbal communication in English and Swahili (any additional languages are a bonus)
