Founded in 2023, HalioGen Power is a University of Manchester spin-off focused on disrupting the long-duration energy storage industry with our innovative flow battery. We partner with key institutions and accelerator programmes including SprinD, the Energy Innovation Agency, INEOS, Ansys, Innovate UK, PortXL and D2XCEL.

Tasks

Responsibilities:

  • Active participation in the development of our Redox Flow battery
  • Assembly, commissioning and maintenance/servicing of our Redox Flow battery prototypes (in-house & customer sites)
  • Independent assembly of battery components and test rigs
  • Troubleshooting of experimental setups
  • Carrying out and documenting test procedures and actively participating in the further development of these procedures
  • Close collaboration with the development team and the design department on implantation of new designs and battery systems.

Requirements

Essential skills:

  • Experience of development work.
  • Able to interpret mechanical drawings and models.
  • Able to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Basic understanding and practical experience of assembling flow systems, valves, quick connect fittings and solvent welding.
  • Able to carry out basic machining operations such as drilling & tapping, sheet metal cutting (bandsaw) and modification of system components in-house.
  • Able to troubleshoot issues with the experimental setups.
  • Willingness to undergo further training as required.
  • Strong team player with high degree of initiative and independence.
  • Confident handling of PC, Windows and MS Office

Desirable skills:

  • Previous experience in the Renewable Energy sector.
  • Previous experience of working with chemicals.
