Extropy is seeking a Senior Principal Consultant to lead enterprise-level Accounts Payable (AP) transformation programs and provide strategic advisory leadership across multiple clients and delivery pods.

This role drives the evolution of Extropy’s AP practice—defining standards, shaping methodologies, and ensuring excellence in execution while mentoring Principal and Senior Consultants.

The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience with Basware, Esker, or similar automation platforms, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of influencing digital finance strategies at scale.

Tasks

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Solution Leadership

  • Lead multi-country, multi-entity AP transformation programs with executive oversight.
  • Define solution frameworks, governance models, and standardization approaches across clients.
  • Serve as final escalation point for design, workflow, and configuration issues.
  • Align Extropy’s AP delivery practices with industry benchmarks and innovation trends.
  • Partner with clients to shape their automation roadmaps and value realization goals.

Governance & Program Leadership

  • Collaborate with the PMO to define portfolio-level governance structures.
  • Facilitate executive steering committees and sponsor-level updates.
  • Assess project health and delivery maturity across pods; provide corrective direction.
  • Drive adoption of best practices in risk management, testing, and performance measurement.

Client & Practice Development

  • Serve as the strategic advisor to CFO and Finance Transformation stakeholders.
  • Contribute to pre-sales by designing high-level solution architectures and estimates.
  • Mentor Principal and Senior Consultants across the AP practice.
  • Contribute to the development of accelerators, playbooks, and reusable IP for AP delivery.

Delivery Leadership

  • ≥90% of projects delivered on schedule and within scope (with PMO support).
  • Executive stakeholder satisfaction ≥4.5/5.
  • 95% success rate of go-lives without major escalations.
  • Achievement of quality gate approvals on the first submission.

Technical & Process Excellence

  • ≥20% reduction in post-implementation AP support issues.
  • Timely closure of high-severity AP escalations (target: <24 hours).
  • 3+ optimization or process improvement recommendations per quarter.
  • Reusable solution design assets contributed to the Extropy knowledge base.

Team & Capability Development

  • Actively mentor and coach junior consultants and Solution Architects.
  • Deliver 2+ internal knowledge-sharing sessions per quarter.
  • Positive feedback scores from mentees and peer evaluations.

Business Impact

  • Maintain a 75–80% utilization rate on billable engagements.
  • Support pre-sales pursuits through solutioning and client presentations.
  • Identify client expansion and cross-sell opportunities.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Required Experience

· 10–15 years of experience in financial process transformation and AP automation.

· Deep expertise in Basware, Esker, or equivalent enterprise automation platforms.

· Proven leadership of large-scale, multi-phase implementations or global rollouts.

· Experience working with major ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday).

· Strong understanding of compliance, controls, and shared services operations.

· Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills at the executive level.

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Information Systems; Master’s preferred.

· PMP, Agile, or equivalent leadership certification strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

· Deep functional and configuration knowledge of Basware or equivalent AP automation platforms.

· Understanding of integration design, data mapping, and workflow automation frameworks.

· Experience establishing process governance and compliance controls in AP and procurement operations.

· Familiarity with Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies.

· Proficiency in tools such as Asana, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Visio for governance and client communication.

Soft Skills

· Exceptional client-facing communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

· Ability to influence and guide stakeholders toward practical, outcome-driven decisions.

· Experience mentoring consultants and developing internal capabilities.

· Calm and composed under pressure, confident, and engaging with executive sponsors.

Education Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

· Project Management certification (PMP, Agile, Scrum Master) preferred.

· Basware or equivalent platform certifications strongly preferred.

  • Remote
  • 9AM to 5PM EST with flexibility working with global teams across multiple time zones.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel for workshops, training, or project go-lives (as required).

  • Evolve into a Practice Lead or Director of Professional Services role, owning the AP and P2P practice strategy across Extropy.
  • Lead innovation, standardization, and capability development initiatives that expand Extropy’s market presence and deepen its role as a trusted digital finance transformation partner. Advance from project-level leadership to practice-level influence, driving AP automation excellence and strategic client transformation outcomes across multiple delivery pods.
