Everest Carbon is a fast-growing climate technology startup specializing in innovative sensor technology for the commercialization of negative emissions. Our mission is to enable 1 billion tons of CO2 removed per year by 2035 through our products and services.

As Senior Firmware Engineer you own the firmware of our sensor technology and it's IoT connectivity, ensuring robust, low-power, and scalable sensor operation in field environments.

This is a key individual contributor role reporting directly to the Head of R&D.

Tasks

  • Develop and optimize low-power firmware for remote environmental sensors.
  • Implement robust LoRa and BLE communication protocols.
  • Integrate sensor drivers and signal processing pipelines.
  • Build tools for remote diagnostics, logging, and testing.
  • Establish CI/CD and HIL test pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, mechanical, and science teams.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Strong expertise in C/C++, with RTOS experience (FreeRTOS, ZephyrOS).
  • Proficient with low-power firmware and wireless protocols (LoRa, BLE).
  • Skilled in sensor integration and data acquisition systems.
  • Comfortable with embedded Python or scripting for test automation.
  • Bonus: Experience with field-deployed sensors or IoT systems.
