As part of the development of advanced communication products designed for demanding aerospace environments, our client is strengthening its Product Development team in Lausanne.
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (M/F) to contribute to the design and development of highly integrated mechanical systems, working at the intersection of mechanical engineering, electronics, thermal management and system integration.
You will be involved throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept development and architecture definition through design, validation and manufacturing.
📌 Your role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of complex mechanical solutions meeting demanding requirements in terms of performance, reliability, size, weight and environmental conditions.
You will contribute to system-level architecture and technical trade-offs while working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
You will play a key role in transforming early-stage concepts into validated and manufacturable products.
Tasks
🎯 Responsibilities
🔹 Mechanical Design & Architecture
- Drive requirements, architecture definition and technical trade-offs.
- Design and develop highly integrated mechanical assemblies and components.
- Develop and rapidly evaluate concepts during early project phases.
- Create parametric CAD designs for complex mechanical systems.
🔹 Thermal Management & Simulation
- Perform thermal simulations and contribute to thermal management strategies.
- Develop electronic cooling solutions adapted to demanding operating environments.
- Consider the specific constraints associated with aerospace and space applications.
🔹 System Integration
- Work closely with Systems, Hardware, RF, Optical, Manufacturing and Test Engineering teams.
- Contribute to the integration of mechanical, electrical, RF and optical subsystems.
- Participate in system-level architecture decisions and technical trade-offs.
🔹 Prototyping, Integration & Testing
- Take a hands-on approach to prototyping, assembly and integration.
- Participate in product testing and validation activities.
- Support the transition from engineering concepts to production-ready solutions.
🔹 Manufacturing & Suppliers
- Apply Design-for-Manufacturing principles throughout the development process.
- Work with external suppliers, manufacturing partners and test facilities.
- Ensure successful product realization and manufacturing feasibility.
🔹 Technical Documentation
- Document technical solutions, analyses and test findings.
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports.
- Communicate engineering recommendations effectively in an international environment.
Requirements
💼 Your profile
- Master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience in mechanical product development and design.
- Strong expertise in parametric CAD design.
- Solid experience in thermal simulations and thermal management of electronic systems.
- Experience with system-level architectures involving mechanical, electrical, RF and/or optical disciplines.
- Experience developing products for harsh operating environments.
- Experience in aerospace, space or satellite applications is a strong advantage.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, assembly, integration and testing.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and Design-for-Manufacturing principles.
- Experience with tools such as SolidWorks, Ansys Mechanical, Discovery, Icepak and/or Mathcad.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and international environment.
