If these values resonate with you, we’d love to explore how you can join us on this exciting journey!

So what's the job

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead one agile engineering team for one of our Verticals: Fulfillment, Demand, or Supply, and your role will consist of three parts:

  1. Bringing the vertical forward and shaping the strategy for vertical tech foundations in order to modernize the tech stack and enable faster delivery of product improvements.
  2. Supporting the professional growth and development of the engineers: hiring, coaching, empowering, growing, and assessing/promoting them.
  3. Shaping how the team can deliver on its mission and vision. The most important aspects are:
      • Provide leadership and guidance to the engineers in code quality and maintainability, contributing to the design and architecture of the team's domain.
    • Partner with the Product and UX peers to detail the team's roadmap and deliver product initiatives with customer-centricity principles in mind.
    • Together with the engineers on the team, shape the tech foundations for the team's domain to enable the delivery of new product features in a fast and high-quality manner.
    • Establish quality metrics to track and analyze the effectiveness of the team's software delivery processes

How we roll - Our Stack

As the biggest marketplace for special items, Catawiki operates in a market, which brings a lot of unusual challenges and opportunities. You will be developing, testing and scaling our microservices, written in Ruby, to handle the high volume served by the platform every single day. We do this by using Infrastructure as Code principles, collaborative peer-reviews, delivering code to production multiple times a day, A/B testing various assumptions, sometimes making mistakes, learning from them, and iterating quickly.

A little about you

We are looking for people who like to make a big impact. We love people who want to make a contribution to further building out our engineering culture and who want to have some fun with their colleagues along the way. Next to this, you have:

  • Experience in a managerial role, with a proven track record of growing engineers
  • Hands-on experience in software development
  • Proven track record of leading a team to deliver product initiatives aligned with the business objectives
  • Proven track record of partnering with Product and UX peers to design and deliver products
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams with stakeholders in a matrix organization
