We’re supporting a client on a mid-level Backend Engineer role within a large European tech platform operating at scale. This is a direct B2B contract with the client, working on high-traffic consumer platforms used daily by millions.
You’ll be joining a core engineering team that builds reliable, scalable Node.js services at the heart of the platform. This isn’t a “feature factory” — your work will have a direct impact on how the platform performs, scales, and evolves.
Tasks
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for high-traffic production systems.
- Work closely with other engineers to implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Product Analysts, and other teams to integrate data-driven features and services.
- Continuously optimize backend components for performance, scalability, and security.
- Contribute to team tooling and automation (CI/CD, testing, monitoring).
- Take ownership of your work and proactively propose improvements across the stack.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development (Node.js / TypeScript preferred).
- Solid experience with APIs, microservices, serverless, or event-driven architectures.
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and ability to work autonomously in a collaborative team.
- Good communication skills: ability to give and receive feedback, and work cross-functionally.
- Nice to have: experience with cloud platforms (AWS), DevOps, or data engineering.
