CareMates - AI-supported patient admissions in the care sector

More time for care – less for paperwork and bureaucracy. With this mission, the founders of CareMates launched their journey at the end of 2023 in collaboration with Caritas in Munich, Germany, to digitalize one of the country's most essential pillars. In an aging society, the care sector is continuously growing while simultaneously struggling with severe staff shortages and high regulatory hurdles.

CareMates is the AI-powered CRM system for the social sector, streamlining inquiry and admission management for new residents and patients in care. Among the first customers are not only nonprofit organizations such as Caritas, Diakonie, and AWO but also private care providers.

In your role as a Software Engineer, you’re one of the first employees and therefore a crucial part of our 4-people engineering team. You closely collaborate with our two founders and Co-CTOs, Pablo and Johannes, and contribute to CareMates providing even more value for our clients.

  • Shape technical architecture – Play a key role in architectural decisions, optimizing system design, performance, robustness, and scalability for the CareMates software.
  • Own and deliver impactful features – Take ownership of end-to-end feature development, from planning and design to implementation and deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience in cloud-native development with AWS and knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of systems design, software architecture, and best practices in scalability and performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for diagnosing and resolving code and system health issues.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setup, with a willingness to sync early every few days to collaborate across time zones and maximize team efficiency.

Benefits

  • Impact-driven work – Contribute to a fast-growing startup that is transforming patient admissions and workflow automation in the healthcare sector.
  • Small, agile team – Work in a flat-hierarchy, fast-moving environment where decisions are made quickly, and your contributions directly shape the product.
  • Steep learning curve – Work on an innovative B2B SaaS product in the care sector, leveraging cutting-edge cloud technologies to solve real-world challenges.
  • Fair compensation & flexibility – Enjoy competitive pay, flexible working hours (fulltime required), and a fully remote setup, with the opportunity to work autonomously.
