Electrical Power System (EPS) Engineer

Permanent contract – London, UK – Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote)
Function: Science / Engineering
Level of Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher
Experience: Minimum 5 years

Tasks

  • Design both high-level architecture and detailed electronics for spacecraft power systems
  • Develop in-house power electronics: DC/DC converters, solar array regulators, battery charge/discharge systems
  • Analyze system requirements and manage power interfaces with other onboard hardware
  • Maintain power budgets and parametric models for the spacecraft
  • Perform EMC analysis and propose mitigation measures
  • Draft and manage RFPs for external suppliers, review technical offers
  • Oversee hardware delivery and subcontractor coordination
  • Define test and validation plans; support integration and subsystem testing
  • Contribute to documentation across the project lifecycle (e.g., FMEA, operational procedures)
  • Participate in formal reviews (MDR, PDR, CDR) and support flight operations
  • Contribute to the development of future spacecraft power system architectures

Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Degree in Power Management, Electronics, Aerospace, Physics, or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical/power systems engineering, preferably in the space sector
  • Practical experience with power conditioning/distribution, DC/DC converters, solar arrays, and battery management
  • Strong knowledge of space development lifecycles and experience with technical reviews
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Collaborative mindset and openness to cross-disciplinary work

    Nice to Have:

  • Advanced knowledge of power electronics design and testing
  • Familiarity with actuator/motor drive systems
  • Hands-on debugging and testing experience
  • Understanding of space standards (ECSS, MIL) and tailoring practices
