Research and Development Intern

We are a young tech startup working on a movable solar facade called Solskin. It combines a PV system and a shading system into one to provide optimal solar energy management and improve occupant comfort. It uses advanced AI algorithms technology using weather and user data to optimize energy savings and comfort. Solskin is a revolutionary product that helps buildings stay cool and generate more solar power than traditional PV systems.

As a member of the ZSR team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the development of Solskin. You will be given a high level of independence and responsibility and will be able to see the tangible results of your work as Solskin is installed on buildings in Switzerland and around the world. You will be supporting us for the testing and validation of our long-lasting system.

You support our development of Solskin by testing our system and improving the system. This entails building test setups, evaluating our system, and finding solutions using prototypes. We like to do as many small iterations as possible. You assist us in documenting design changes and modifications.

Involved tasks:

• Develop prototypes using rapid manufacturing techniques.
• Test and evaluate system components to assess performance.
• Provide insights for optimizing the design and functionality based on data analysis.
• Contribute to the documentation of design changes and improvements.

You will work very closely with Gabriel (R&D) and Samuel (Production).

• Degree in mechanical or mechatronic engineering
• Experience with CAD tools (i.e. Fusion360)
• Rapid prototyping (3D Printing and laser cutting)
• Hands-on Tinkerer experience required. This could be previous exprience with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, STM32) or similar previous mechatronics projects
• Python experience is required, C++ would be a plus
