The Patio Factory is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Planning Drafting Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing precise site development plans and related documentation to support development and complying development applications.
This position is ideal for an experienced drafting professional with at least 3 years in residential or planning-related projects who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values accuracy, compliance, and collaboration.
Tasks
- Prepare accurate, council-compliant drawings including:
- Site Development Plans
- Site Analysis Plans
- Vicinity Maps
- Setback Diagrams
- Elevations and Sections
- Interpret site surveys, sketches, and project briefs to generate planning documentation.
- Collaborate with planners and project managers to ensure drawings meet council requirements and client needs.
- Revise plans in response to council feedback, planning changes, or updated site information.
- Ensure all drawings comply with Australian Building Codes, LEPs, DCPs, and other planning instruments.
- Manage multiple drafting workloads and meet submission deadlines.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of drafting experience, preferably in residential planning or council approvals (Australia).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent drafting software.
- Strong understanding of Australian Building Codes, LEPs, and DCPs.
- Ability to independently produce a complete set of planning documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and layout presentation.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience working with planning consultants, certifiers, or local councils.
- Knowledge of council approval processes in NSW, QLD, or WA.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering documentation.
- Experience with 3D drafting or rendering software (highly regarded).
