Maeve Aerospace is a Delft-based **aerospace start-up** building the world’s **first all-electric commuter aircraft**, with the ambitious goal of achieving certification of the Maeve 01 aircraft by 2028.

As Maeve is advancing in its airworthy electric powertrain design we are in need of an expert **BMS & Control Systems Engineer**. You will support the aircraft battery development team and take a broad responsibility in developing our battery management system. Your time at Maeve will lead you to become the **subject matter expert** on high-energy-density battery BMS design and integration into our commercial aircraft.

## Tasks

In this position, you will be in charge of the design and development of the battery management software and system electronics required to maintain our main battery pack. Your battery management system will be designed in accordance with critical aviation safety criteria and standards and be rigorously tested by means of Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop test benches that you’ve helped develop. Summarised, some of your day-to-day activities will include:

*   Establish the control system architecture for our battery module and pack
*   Development and implementation of the BMS control software (c-code);
*   Work as part of the battery development team on the design and fabrication of improving iterations of our prototype battery pack
*   Design the electronics for our next-gen BMS system
*   Program control algorithms for monitoring battery State-of-Charge and State-of-Health etc.
*   Be the subject matter expert on BMS design and integration

## Requirements

*   BSc or MSc in computer science, electronics engineering or aerospace engineering
*   Minimum 1-3 years experience in control algorithms development with a special focus on batteries for automotive or aviation applications
*   Living in the Netherlands (preferred) or minimally in possession of a valid EU work visa (mandatory)
*   Experience in embedded software programming is valued as a bonus but not mandatory 
*   Hands-on experience with design, development, integration, and testing of BMS software
*   Working knowledge of battery system SoC and SoH algorithms
*   High proficiency in English and excellent communication skills
*   Willingness to work as part of a dynamic and multicultural team in an aerospace start-up environment.
