The Seaweed Company

11-50

Throughout history, seaweed has played a crucial role in various cultures, serving as a valuable resource for food, medicine, and industry. At The Seaweed Company, we are on an epic journey to rediscover the potential of this magic ingredient. It is our purpose to unlock the untapped potential of seaweed by focusing on highly scalable seaweed solutions with positive impact.

Our product

SeaMeat® is our seaweed blend that can replace 25% of meat in meatballs, burgers, sausages and other minced meat products. Super tasty, juicy, and good-looking. As seaweed is (almost) climate neutral, this leads to a 25% reduction in its climate impact while also enhancing the product's health benefits. Reducing scope 3 emissions and improving Nutriscores. To create a meaningful impact, we chose a hybrid approach that can instigate change on a broader scale, reaching a larger audience rather than focusing solely on a niche vegan market. See also our website.

Tasks

To further increase our impact, we are looking for someone to own and drive the product development and be THE expert towards our customers. Understanding the detailed functionalities and possibilities of our seaweeds and support our customers in developing mouthwatering concepts, such as SeaMeat® . We all know a product on its own doesn’t sell, even seaweed needs to be presented in an attractive way. And that requires a true foody. Will you jump on board?

You’ll be the spider in the web, cooperating closely with sales & marketing as well as supply chain, quality & operations. Understanding possibilities and seeing new opportunities. Coming up with creative ideas, while structuring the work so we don’t lose focus and cooperate effectively.

Requirements

You have a bachelor's or master's degree in food technology or something similar

You have 3-5 years of experience in a commercial food(ingredient) development role.

You have a passion for food and know how to present food in an inspiring way

You like to experiment with our seaweed to test and (let) taste different options.

You want to learn all ins and outs of seaweed to become a true expert (yes, a bit of a nerd would be perfect…)

You come up with creative ideas, but can also work in a structured (project management) way

You are commercially savvy and like to join customer meetings, understand our customer needs and identify ideas that make sense from a business perspective

You thrive in an environment that involves collaboration with diverse colleagues, cross-functional teams, and a wide range of partners/clients.

You can handle an environment that is not yet fully established. You’ll need to help define what facilities we need, identify other requirements, and work relatively independent

Benefits

Working in a true impact scale-up. Being part of the food-transition. Being part of a diverse and super dynamic team. Freedom to shape your role, while being supported by an experienced team.

We think this is a fantastic opportunity to join our journey to make our food chains sustainable and healthy. At a unique moment while we are still developing this journey, with enormous traction to scale-up to the biggest and only multinational seaweed company in Europe!

You need to be based in The Netherlands, preferably near Amsterdam or Rotterdam (we have offices in Schiedam & Hoofddorp).

Interested? Get in touch with our team and apply. The application process consists of 1 or 2 interviews (incl. case interview), after a resume and motivation selection (letter, video, presentation – of applicant’s choice).

At The Seaweed Company, we believe that if we all think and act nature-first, a more liveable future for our entire ecosystem is possible. That's why we are on a mission to solve the pains in the agri food chain and create a healthy and sustainable food system.

The Seaweed Company is the only European-rooted seaweed company that is globally active in the entire seaweed value chain with the development of high-end value products for humans (seaweed for food) and plants & soils (seaweed biostimulant) and the standardized production of traceable and sustainable seaweed species globally. Our prime area of focus is contributing to the transition to sustainable agriculture and sustainable diets for human health & wellbeing.
