Electrical Engineering

Our is a German product engineering company that helps startups and SMEs turn innovative ideas into market-ready products. They combine strong R&D expertise with a high-quality, accessible production network in Vietnam, focusing on bridging the gap from concept to reliable, scalable production. The company values practical problem-solving, transparency, and close, long-term collaboration with its customers.

Tasks

We are looking for an experienced Regulatory & Certification Lead in VIETNAM to take full ownership of the product certification and compliance process for a portfolio of electronic and electro‑mechanical devices.

This is a senior, leadership-focused role: you will define the regulatory strategy, coordinate all certification activities, and ensure that documentation and processes are correct, complete, and audit-ready. You can delegate operational tasks (e.g. formatting, collecting inputs) to support staff, but you are responsible for the overall structure, content, and outcome of the certification workflow.

Responsibilities

Standards & Regulatory Requirements

  • Identify all applicable standards, directives, and regulatory requirements for each product and target market.
  • Procure and maintain relevant standards and ensure they are interpreted and applied correctly.

Compliance Planning & Coordination

  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure full technical compliance.
  • Translate standards and directives into clear technical and process requirements.
  • Define and manage the overall certification roadmap and timelines for each product.

Documentation & Technical Files

  • Prepare, manage, and review all documentation required for product certification.
  • Structure and maintain Technical Files, risk assessments, and Declarations of Conformity.
  • Ensure all compliance documentation is complete, consistent, and traceable.

CE & Regional Certifications

  • Lead CE conformity assessment and compile the full CE documentation package.
  • Support and coordinate additional regional approvals such as FCC and other market-specific certifications.

External Partners & Test Labs

  • Coordinate with external testing and certification bodies (e.g. TÜV, accredited EMC / RF labs).
  • Plan test campaigns, follow up on findings, and ensure timely closure of issues.

Interface Between Regulation & Engineering

  • Act as the primary interface between regulatory requirements and the engineering team.
  • Review designs, BoMs, and test plans to ensure alignment with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Provide clear, practical guidance to engineers regarding regulatory constraints and implications.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in regulatory affairs / product certification for electronic or electro‑mechanical products.Proven experience with:
CE (including EMC, RED, LVD, RoHS and related EU directives).
  • EMC and radio standards (e.g. RED, CISPR).
  • Environmental regulations such as RoHS and REACH.
  • Ideally, FCC and other regional certification schemes.Strong technical understanding: comfortable discussing design, risks, and test strategies with hardware, mechanical, and test engineers.Demonstrated ability to:

  • Identify applicable standards and directives.
  • Translate them into concrete technical and documentation requirements.
  • Lead products through the full certification lifecycle.Experience working with external test labs and certification bodies (e.g. TÜV, accredited EMC/RF labs).Excellent skills in structuring documentation (technical files, declarations, reports, risk analyses, checklists).Highly organized, proactive, and willing to take end‑to‑end ownership of the certification workflow.Good communication skills in English (written and spoken); German is a plus but not mandatory.

Benefits

A key role in ensuring that innovative hardware products can be launched compliantly and reliably.Close collaboration with experienced engineering teams in Germany and Vietnam.Remote‑friendly setup with flexible working arrangements.Competitive compensation aligned with experience and responsibility.

Most products are now moving towards series production. Before manufacturing can start, all devices must comply with relevant regulatory, environmental, and electromagnetic requirements, including (but not limited to):

  • Environmental compliance:

  • RoHS, REACH and related substance regulations.

  • Electromagnetic compatibility & radio:

  • RED, CISPR and related EMC / RF standards.

  • Regional certification requirements:

  • CE (Europe), FCC (USA), plus other regions depending on the project.

The client is specifically looking for someone who has guided products end‑to‑end through these processes and can structure, lead, and document the certification journey with confidence.

This role is about leadership, coordination, and expertise: you can delegate execution tasks, but you must know exactly how to structure and approach the entire certification workflow.
