Employee
Graphic Arts and Communication Design

This role supports a large-scale digital transformation initiative focused on modernizing public-facing services, improving efficiency, and elevating user experience across multiple programs. The Digital Design and Delivery Division (“3D”) is the central hub for digital delivery, established to strengthen modern design capabilities, uphold high-quality standards, and ensure consistent value through user-centred, human-centred design practices.

Working closely with various program areas, the division delivers end-to-end digital solutions—from research and service reviews to building intuitive, accessible, and scalable digital services. As part of this expansion, the team requires skilled Front End Designers to contribute to service innovation, program analysis, and cross-functional product delivery.

These designers will be integrated into collaborative teams that include product owners, business analysts, developers, and researchers, participating in activities such as field research, agile planning, sprint execution, and interface design. The goal is to redesign services that are more efficient, effective, and user-friendly.

Tasks

Role Overview

The Front End Designer will work full-time across multiple digital transformation projects, contributing to interface design, research planning, usability testing, and high-quality design artifacts. The contract is expected to run for one year, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months depending on project needs.

  • Conduct usability testing, including creating test plans and reporting findings.
  • Analyze accessibility requirements and provide recommendations to meet relevant standards.

3. Collaboration & Facilitation

  • Work within cross-functional teams involving product owners, designers, developers, and program stakeholders.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Present clear, justifiable recommendations for design decisions to align diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.

4. Service Innovation & Delivery

  • Support service reviews, mapping current service states and defining future opportunities.
  • Translate research insights into intuitive user flows, functional prototypes, and improved service experiences.
  • Contribute to the continuous evolution of design processes and tools.

Requirements

These are the core requirements expected from the Front End Designer:

1. Front-End/UI Design Experience

  • Proven experience designing user interfaces for web or mobile applications.
  • Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity UI designs.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and cross-platform usability.

2. Human-Centred Design Approach

  • Experience applying human-centred design (HCD) methods.
  • Ability to conduct or support user research activities, such as interviews, field research, and usability testing.
  • Skills in translating research findings into actionable design recommendations.

3. Design Tools & Techniques

  • Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, etc.).
  • Ability to develop and maintain design systems, component libraries, and style guides.
  • Experience preparing build-ready design specifications for developers.

4. Agile Delivery Experience

  • Demonstrated experience working in agile teams, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with product owners, business analysts, developers, and researchers.

5. Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Strong visual, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to justify design decisions with evidence and clearly align teams and leadership.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.

6. Accessibility & Standards
