We’re looking for up to three Senior Front End Designers to join our agile, multi-disciplinary teams supporting high-impact digital initiatives across government ministries.
Tasks
Job Description
As a Senior Front End Designer, you will:
- Design modern, intuitive, and accessible public digital services
- Translate research insights into wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and full UI designs
- Develop and maintain scalable component libraries and design systems
- Conduct usability and accessibility testing (WCAG 2.1+)
- Collaborate in agile teams with developers, researchers, service designers, and product owners
- Present design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to team design standards and governance

Mandatory:
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
- Security clearance completed (Criminal Record Check required; Enhanced or RCMP Top Secret may be required based on project)
- Portfolio submission (PDF/document only – no external links)
- Completion of GoA mandatory training (POPA, ATIA, Cybersecurity, Respect in the Workplace, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in front-end or UI design
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, HTML/CSS
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and agile collaboration experience
Assets:
- Experience designing for government or enterprise-scale platforms
- Familiarity with Government of Alberta Digital Standards and design systems
- Usability research and design system governance experience
