Repossession Specialist
Location : HAMPTON ROADS AREA, VA
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Repossession Specialist to join our recovery team. In this role, you will be responsible for locating, recovering, and securing collateral (primarily vehicles) on behalf of lenders, banks, and finance companies. The ideal candidate will have strong investigative skills, a clean driving record, and the ability to handle high-stress situations professionally and safely.
Tasks
Key Responsibilities:
- Locate and recover collateral using skip tracing tools and investigative methods.
- Coordinate with recovery agents and/or towing companies to perform repossessions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of recovery attempts and successful repossessions.
- Ensure all repossession activities comply with state and federal laws and company policies.
- Communicate professionally with internal departments, third-party agents, and law enforcement when necessary.
- Photograph and document condition of collateral upon recovery.
- Secure and transport vehicles to designated storage or auction facilities.
- Perform field visits as needed to confirm occupancy or asset presence.
- Utilize GPS, mapping software, and recovery management systems efficiently.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; college degree a plus.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in repossession, collections, law enforcement, or related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of repossession laws and FDCPA regulations preferred.
- Proficient in skip tracing and asset recovery tools (e.g., Clear, TLOxp, DRN).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently, often during non-traditional hours (nights/weekends).
- Physically capable of driving long hours, walking, and handling vehicle retrieval.
- Background check and drug screening required.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
