JUNIOR ACQUISITIONS MANAGER (m/f/d)
Part-time (50-80%). Starting in Berlin in October 2025.
Tasks
As a Junior Acquisitions Manager, you’ll be at the heart of discovering and curating documentaries and other content that will captivate, entertain and inspire our audience. In this role, you'll identify high-quality programmes from distributors, production companies, and other partners that will connect with our audience and align with our vision.
Alongside this, you’ll assist with the administrative side of the acquisition process—helping to manage contracts, organize content submissions, and ensure smooth negotiations. If you're passionate about documentaries, exploring new genres and content curation, while also enjoying the process behind the scenes, this role offers the perfect blend of both.
You’ll report to our Head of Acquisitions and work closely with the digital and editorial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- You'll research, screen and assist acquiring documentaries and other relevant content from both existing and new partners you've identified (distributors, production companies, content makers).
- You'll work closely with the channel managers to understand the specific needs of each VOD channel, ensuring acquisitions align with channel strategies, trends and audience preferences.
- You'll support the acquisitions team in negotiating and reviewing content licensing agreements as well as maintaining databases and licensing records.
- You’ll support the acquisition process, including managing language versions and coordinating dubbing when needed.
- You’ll help draft and coordinate acquisition briefs and related marketing emails, collecting key information from various departments.
- You'll help diversify the content pipeline by sourcing new finished programs, identifying digital-first opportunities, and conducting market and competitor research.
- You'll be tracking the performance of acquired content, using data and feedback to contribute to acquisition strategies.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in content acquisition, film distribution, sales or a related field.
- Familiarity with content licensing, rights management, and contract processes is a plus. As is experience with digital platforms, streaming services or media companies.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media, Communications, Business, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
Skills:
- Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with internal teams and external partners.
- English proficiency is required. German, French, Spanish or an Asian language would be great assets.
- A deep understanding of documentaries and the ability to quickly assess content from both a creative and commercial perspective. Knowledge of the AVOD landscape, online video distribution models, and documentary content is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel - especially - and PowerPoint) or Google equivalents. Knowledge of content management systems or rights management software is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends and draw actionable conclusions.
- Proactive entrepreneurial mindset with an eye on improving internal processes, collaborative team-spirit and highly reliable.
