Head of Product R&D (f/m/d)

Quazy Foods is a young and disruptive biotech start-up unleashing the power of microalgae. Using these exciting and versatile microorganisms, we develop a new generation of healthy, sustainable, and competitive functional ingredients for the food industry and beyond. We operate our own laboratory in which we engineer different microalgae strains and cultivate them on lab scale.

Quazy Foods is seeking to complement its team by hiring a seasoned Head of Product Research & Development. This is a key strategic role with significant impact on the company’s overall success. We are looking for someone who shares our excitement for microalgae, our passion for innovative solutions, and our ambition to help preserve our planet for future generations.

• Assume full responsibility for the company's microalgae-based ingredient development practice from ideation through market launch.
• Closely collaborate with the founders and the further leadership team to ensure the best possible company strategy.
• Attract and retain top talent and lead the product development team.
• Spearhead the identification and evaluation of relevant emerging products, technologies, and trends to stay at the forefront of innovation.
• Effectively manage budgets and allocate resources within scope of responsibility to maximize efficiency and return on investment.
• Contribute to a healthy culture and an inspiring work environment that allows everyone to thrive.

• You hold a PhD or a Master’s degree in process technology, food technology, or biochemistry, or you have a comparable degree.
• You have at least five years of work experience in ingredients production, food or cosmetics product development, or similar.
• You have a deep understanding of process technology, techno-functional properties, nutritional science, microbiology, and the pain points of food and/or cosmetics producers.
• You have strong leadership skills and have previously managed expert teams.
• Experience with microalgae or fermentation is a plus.
• You like to roll up your sleeves and think out of the box.
• You are fluent in English. German is a plus.
