We are looking for an IT System Engineer (50-100%) to join our team to enable a modern and secure IT infrastructure at Lumiphase, a vibrant deep-tech startup on lake Zurich. In that role, you will be at the digital heart of our company and be responsible for creating an innovative and robust IT environment needed to scale our startup to the next level.

Tasks

  • Administrate our Azure Cloud. Manage tasks like account and group creation, guest access, deployment of resources.
  • Manage endpoint and cloud security (Intune, Defender). React to security incidents.
  • Set up and maintain the company’s hardware (laptops, workstations, periphery).
  • Configure and maintain secure networks, including production, laboratory and Azure virtual networks using a modern SD-WAN solution.
  • Shape our security strategy, including tasks like implementing and validating backups, encryption.
  • Software and services such as selecting, installing and maintaining software solutions within Lumiphase, managing Android/iOS apps, developing and maintaining digital processes
  • Internal IT support, including on- and offboarding of employees and setting up hardware.
  • Collaboration with external support, in particular with service providers and IT teams of partner companies
  • Tight interaction with and support of our data engineers and scientists, e.g. related to infrastructure, security and access management.
  • Internal documentation and Security Awareness Training for employees.

Requirements

  • Experience as a system engineer with Microsoft solutions like Entra ID, SharePoint, Intune, Defender, Office365.
  • Experience with endpoint management.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, good knowledge of Linux/Unix preferred
  • Experience in IT security and with network and backup technologies. Experience with Microsoft EMS and knowledge of SD-WAN is a plus.

  • Creative, motivated, critical thinking, and hands-on attitude with the drive to tackle complex challenges.
  • Good organizational skills to plan and operate time-critical processes.
  • Capable of learning quickly and adequately transferring that knowledge to others;
  • Strong teamwork and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced English skills, German skills are a plus.
  • Successful apprenticeship as IT specialist (specialization: systems engineering) or successful graduation (BSc or MSc) in computer science or a or an equivalent qualification. At least 3 years of additional experience in an IT related job.

Our recruitment process consists of three stages:

  1. A 30 min. phone interview with our People & Culture team member to discuss your general career motivations, and present our company and this role.
  2. A 1-1.5 hour phone interview with 1-2 members of the hiring team to deep dive into the core skills requirements.
  3. An on-site visit to interview with and meet many members of the team that you would be working in. This often includes lunch and gives you a strong sense of the company culture and individuals.

Then, both parties take their decisions. We aim to complete all steps in one month, but also allow for modifications to ensure both sides have a full picture of the skills and culture match to take the decision in an informed way.
