Role Overview:

The Short-Term Expert will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of capacity-building measures, conducting training sessions, and developing company policies and strategies within the garment sector in Rwanda. This role involves both remote and in-country tasks, focusing on improving social protection, social security, core labour standards, and CSR measures, particularly in Rwanda.

Duration: From October 2024 to December 2025

Tasks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the execution of capacity-building initiatives, training programs, and the development of company policies/strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with partner companies to ensure the successful adoption and integration of social standards, social rights protection, and CSR measures.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to private-sector and public stakeholders, focusing on social protection, social security, and core labour standards.
  • Work both remotely and on-site to deliver expert support, ensuring the successful completion of project goals.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education/Training: University degree in a relevant field such as labour law, social science, or a related discipline focused on social protection, social security, or CSR measures.
  • Language Proficiency: Local Language in Rwanda / C1-level proficiency in English

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience advising and training private-sector or public stakeholders in the design and setup of social standards, social rights protection, business social compliance, or CSR measures, specifically in the garment sector.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience advising in labour law, social security, and social protection, with a focus on the Rwandan context (fulfilment of this criterion is necessary).

Key Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of international labour standards and social protection mechanisms.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing capacity-building programs and CSR strategies.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks within the given timeframe.
