Who we are

KeyNest is an award-winning travel-tech company, with around 60 people, offices in London and Paris, and most of us working remotely. We're best known for our Airbnb key-holding service. Hosts and property managers store keys in our network of local shops and smart lockers, so guests, cleaners and contractors can collect them 24/7. We operate in more than 15 countries, with over 7,000 KeyNest Points, and have checked in over 2,000,000 guests. Australia is one of our growth markets, and we're building our on-the-ground team there.

The role

Based in Melbourne and working from home, you'll report to our Global Head of Operations. You'll also work day to day with our Australia Sales Manager, who will be your first point of contact locally.

You'll be the hands-on engine of our Australian operations. The role has two equally important sides, and we need you strong on both from day one. The first is keeping our physical network running. The second is growing it. No two days look the same!

Tasks

On the ground: technical and field work

  • Assemble and set up lockers, and diagnose hardware faults such as locks, screens, connectivity and power.
  • Install, service and repair KeyNest lockers on site, travelling across Melbourne to wherever a locker needs fixing, often at short notice. You might have to fly over to Sydney if required.
  • Handle, lift and transport locker units and stock. This is a physically demanding role: units weigh around 35 kg and are moved as a two-person lift, and you'll handle around 24 kg solo during installs.
  • Own supplies and logistics end to end. That means tracking inventory, coordinating shipments and making sure they go out on time.
  • Manage day-to-day supplies to our whole network of stores, with or without a locker.

Growing the network: partners and business development

  • Scout and sign up new shops as KeyNest Points, in person across Melbourne.
  • Be the first point of contact for partner stores. You'll handle routine conversations and negotiations and resolve day-to-day friction, and you'll escalate complex deals to the Australia Sales Manager or Global Head of Operations.
  • Support national partner accounts by responding to requests and sending tracking files.
  • Work with the Australia Sales Manager on B2B clients' needs when they open new partner locations.
  • Give day-to-day technical support to our remote support team on the issues they escalate to you.
  • Share partner and client feedback with our operations and product teams to help improve our tech.

Requirements

Who we're looking for

You need to be good with your hands and good with people. This role won't suit someone who is only one or the other.

  • Practical and technically confident: comfortable with tools, assembling and repairing hardware, and physical work that includes regular lifting of around 24–35 kg.
  • Outgoing and persuasive: at ease walking into a shop, building rapport with owners and closing a partnership.
  • Autonomous: comfortable working independently, with your manager in a different time zone. You take ownership and know when to decide and when to escalate.
  • Highly organised and reliable: able to run field work, logistics and partner admin without dropping any of them.
  • Calm and adaptable when the day changes at short notice.
  • Native-level English is essential, and a second language is a plus.
  • Comfortable travelling across [city] daily. A driver's licence is a plus.
  • Right to work in Australia.

And of course, we're looking for someone who shares our values: supportive, resourceful, reliable, pragmatic and someone who takes ownership.

Benefits

Offer details:

  • Full-time, permanent job, Monday to Friday MELB time.
  • This is a hybrid role as you'll be working on the field but also from home.
  • A varied, high-autonomy role in a growing market, working closely with the Global Head of Operations, the Australia Sales Manager and the founders.
  • Daily collaboration with an international team.
