Building, developing and enabling high performing teams who build awesome products is the main responsibility for our Engineering Managers. It’s the entry position in our Engineering Management career path and reports to a Head of Product Engineering.
As an Engineering Manager joining our team, you will initially focus on hands-on technical tasks like an individual contributor allowing you to gain a deep understanding of our infrastructure and systems so that you know the code inside and out before adding managerial responsibilities to your plate. This approach enables you to understand the technical challenges your team encounters deeply, setting you and the team up for future wins.
Aufgaben
Your tasks – this is what awaits you in detail
- You have found your passion in software development, but you enjoy building the right team, removing roadblocks, fostering growth, creating transparency, and driving alignment even more than being an individual contributor
- You will be responsible for a product team of 3-10 engineers in a you-build-it-you-run-it environment, focused on cart, checkout, and order fulfillment features
- Even though you are leading the team as an Engineering Manager, you will still contribute hands-on to a certain percentage of your time, helping solve technical challenges and optimizing key workflows
- You will support engineers in growing personally and professionally by advancing their technical skills, inspiring them through purpose, and fostering ownership
- You will ensure that we leverage (new) technologies and modular architectures within our product teams to build scalable products that delight customers and meet business objectives
- You are responsible for delivering your products while maintaining a balance between time, budget, and quality, driving the success of key features like state machines, A/B testing, and secure authentication mechanisms
- You will contribute to strategic initiatives beyond your team(s), such as raising the engineering bar, refining development practices, and shaping how we work as an organization
Profil
Your profile – this is what we expect from you
- You have worked in cross-functional product teams and bring extensive experience in building scalable web applications, particularly in cart, checkout, and order fulfillment domains
- You are an experienced Engineering Manager adept at solving complex engineering problems using tools and frameworks suited to both the problem domain and the team’s tech stack, which predominantly includes PHP, Symfony, Node.js or Go, and modern frontend technologies like Vue 3.0
- You have a strong sense of ownership, passion, and energy that inspires those around you and drives the success of your team
- Your communication skills are on point, and you know what matters, especially in a remote setup
- You have proven experience in management roles, building high-performing teams, and are eager to grow further as a successful Engineering Manager
- You are a trusted mentor within your organization, supporting engineers in their professional and personal growth and helping them thrive
- You are willing to go above and beyond to ensure your team’s success, provide constructive feedback, and confidently discuss, commit to, and execute on strategic decisions
