Quality Engineer

Remote (Germany)
Employee
Quality Management

We’re seeking a driven Quality Engineer to join one of Europe’s fastest-growing legal tech companies. Our AI-powered products are already in market; now we need rock-solid quality practices to scale with confidence. This role lets you design and execute test strategies, build automation suites, and champion the tooling and processes that keep our platform reliable, secure, and delightful to use.

Reporting to the Engineering Lead and partnering closely with the Head of Engineering, you’ll work hands-on across the stack—defining quality gates in CI/CD, crafting automated tests (API, UI, E2E, performance), and instrumenting observability to catch issues before users do. You’ll collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed quality early (“shift left”) and ensure every release meets a high bar.

For an engineer with deep experience in test automation, modern QA practices, and data-driven quality metrics, this is a chance to have real product impact, learn from seasoned leaders, and help scale quality across the company.

Your Challenge and Opportunity in This Role

This is a rare opportunity to shape how quality is engineered and enforced in a rapidly evolving product ecosystem. As a core Quality Engineer, you’ll be both implementer and innovator—translating best-in-class QA methods into day-to-day workflows. You’ll help define what “production-ready” truly means for our users, while laying the foundation for scalable, automated, and observable quality systems. Expect deep ownership, continuous learning, and meaningful influence on how our engineering organization matures across teams and markets.

Tasks

Quality Strategy & Implementation:

  • Architect and roll out end-to-end test automation frameworks (API, UI, E2E, performance) integrated into CI/CD.
  • Plan and implement a QA strategy as well as performing some manual QA task when necessary.
  • Define and enforce best practices for quality engineering, test data management, and release gating across products.
  • Build observability and quality metrics dashboards to detect regressions early and drive data-backed improvements.
  • Own hands-on test design, scripting, and tooling early on as the core technical contributor.
  • Continuously harden environments (staging/sandbox) to mirror production and support reliable, repeatable testing.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with product, design, and engineering to “shift left”—baking quality into requirements, designs, and code reviews.
  • Communicate test results, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Coach developers on testing patterns and quality-minded delivery; champion a culture of preventive QA over reactive fixes.
  • Coordinate with DevOps/SRE to align monitoring, alerting, and incident postmortems with quality objectives.

Requirements

Technical Expertise:

  • German speaking proficiency for end customer interactions
  • Advanced UI/E2E automation with Cypress (component tests, custom commands, fixtures, parallel runs).
  • GitHub Actions pro: build/test pipelines, matrix jobs, caching, artifact management, flaky-test quarantine.
  • Docker-first testing: reproducible local/CI environments, ephemeral test stacks, service mocking.
  • Robust QA processes: shift-left testing, risk-based test planning, clear exit criteria, release gating in CI/CD.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills in Python to build and extend test frameworks.
  • API and contract testing (pytest/requests or Postman/Newman), plus performance checks (k6/Locust) as needed.
  • Test data & environment management (seed scripts, synthetic data, sandbox parity with production).
  • Metrics & observability: defining quality KPIs, wiring tests to dashboards/alerts for continuous feedback.
  • Excellent communicator—translates findings and risks for engineers, PMs, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Persistent problem-solver focused on automating away manual toil and delivering reliable user value.

Requirements:

  • You must be located in the CET -2/+2 zone for this role!
  • You must have at least 4 years of professional experience as QA or QE
  • You need to have C1 German knwoledge
