Why this role matters
At JOIN, we believe hiring should be easy, fast, and fair – for companies and candidates alike. That’s why we’re building intuitive, powerful recruiting software that helps businesses of all sizes find the right people effortlessly.
As a mid level Backend Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the technical foundation of our platform. From clean architecture and test-driven development to meaningful product collaboration, your work will directly impact how JOIN delivers a fast, stable, and reliable experience to our users.
<h2>Tasks</h2>
What you’ll be doing
Your work will directly influence JOIN’s product quality, architecture, and customer impact. Here’s what that looks like:
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams through our custom Agile SDLC/Kanban process.</li>
<li>Contribute to requirement definition and propose scalable technical solutions that serve real customer needs.</li>
<li>Conduct peer code reviews and participate in retrospectives to continuously improve our codebase and culture.</li>
<li>Build scalable and well-tested backend services, using clean architecture, linters, code generators, and coding conventions.</li>
<li>Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and clear communication across cross-functional teams.</li>
<li>Engage in technical retrospectives and help shape topics such as testing culture, automation, and architecture.</li>
</ul>
Who you’ll work with
You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, Platform, and other Backend engineers, all of whom value clean, scalable code and open communication. You’ll be part of a team that believes in mentorship, self-sufficiency, and shared ownership
<h2>Requirements</h2>

✔ 3+ years of experience in backend development (strongly typed languages or TypeScript).
✔ Experience with any RDBMS (via raw queries or ORMs).
✔ Solid experience writing unit and integration tests.
✔ Familiarity with message brokers like SNS, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Google PubSub.
✔ Proactive and reliable, with a sense of ownership and accountability.
✔ Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
✔ Growth mindset – eager to learn and quick to pick up new technologies.
Nice to have:
<ul>
<li>Experience with GraphQL.</li>
<li>Cloud exposure (GCP or AWS).</li>
<li>Knowledge of gRPC and protocol buffers.</li>
<li>Understanding of SOLID principles.</li>
</ul>
