Our small, enthusiastic team in Zurich is passionate about tech, travel, and innovation. We strive to help hotels market unused rooms while offering members a great selection of cost-effective travel options.

We Are Looking For

An experienced Senior Laravel Developer / Team Lead to oversee our development team. In this position, you will focus primarily on back-end development for our core Laravel-based website, ensuring clean, efficient, and scalable code. You’ll report directly to the Head of Technology and collaborate closely with our Head of Product & UX, aligning on technical strategies, architectural decisions, and best practices.

We use a Kanban workflow for organizing tasks, holding daily standups and maintaining transparency within the team. While Angular and Ionic experience aren’t mandatory, familiarity with these frameworks is a plus for some of our side projects. We also leverage Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, DigitalOcean, and MySQL to support and scale our platform.

Team Coordination & Leadership

• Guide, mentor, and support the development team, promoting best practices and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Plan, prioritize, and delegate tasks in a Kanban environment.
• Facilitate daily standups to keep everyone aligned on goals and progress.

Laravel Back-End Development

• Architect, develop, and maintain features on our Laravel-based website.
• Ensure code quality, reusability, and scalability through regular code reviews and refactoring.
• Collaborate with DevOps on deployments and environment management (Kubernetes, DigitalOcean).

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with the Head of Technology to align on long-term technical strategy and architecture.
• Partner with the Head of Product & UX to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Communicate effectively with QA and other team members to ensure timely delivery of features and bug fixes.

Technical Advancement

• Identify opportunities to optimize performance (including MySQL queries and Elasticsearch integration).
• Propose and implement improvements to existing workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and development processes.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and best practices to drive continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications

Proven Expertise in Laravel

• Extensive experience building, maintaining, or refactoring Laravel-based websites.

Team Lead/Leadership Experience

• History of guiding a small to mid-sized development team, ideally in an Agile or Kanban settings
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to mentor developers and collaborate with non-technical teams.

Solid Back-End Skills

• Familiarity with database optimization (MySQL) and knowledge of server-side best practices.
• Basic understanding of DevOps, Kubernetes, and cloud hosting (DigitalOcean or similar).

Bonus Skills

• Exposure to Angular or Ionic (useful for side projects).
• Experience with Elasticsearch for data indexing and search features.
• Comfort with CI/CD tools and containerization technologies.
