Tasks
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Hardware Engineer to join our dynamic team. You'll work closely with our CTO and co-founder on the technical implementation of our product vision. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative IoT sensor technology and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Sensor Development: Design and develop electronic sensors to collect tap water data for identifying leaks in single and multi-family residential buildings.
- Firmware Development: Write and optimize firmware for microcontrollers, including the Nrf9160, to enable seamless integration with sensors and communication systems.
- Data Transmission: Implement and enhance data transmission protocols using state-of-the-art communication technologies, including LTE-M and NB-IoT.
- Prototyping & Testing: Develop, test, and refine prototypes across a diverse portfolio of over 150 residential buildings, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Material Selection: Oversee material selection and create Bills of Materials (BOMs) using tools like KiCAD for efficient hardware production.
- Programming: Develop software in Python for data-related projects and microcontroller programming (e.g., ESP32, Nrf9160).

Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Development, Physics or a related field, with 4+ years of experience in hardware engineering and firmware development.
- Circuit Development: Strong expertise in designing electronic circuits and firmware development, particularly for microcontrollers like the Nrf9160.
- Firmware Skills: Proficient in C/C++ and experienced in developing firmware for embedded systems, with hands-on experience in Nrf9160-based designs.
- Software Proficiency: Skilled in KiCAD for PCB design and Python for data-related or automation projects.
- Adaptable: Eager to learn and contribute in a dynamic startup environment, with the flexibility to adapt to evolving challenges.
