We are looking for a CCO for one of our portfolio companies. It is a stealth search and we will provide further information before the first meeting.
The startup is a cleantech company on a mission to make renewable energy operations more efficient and scalable through the power of AI. Their technology helps asset owners, operators and service providers optimize the performance of their renewable energy sources.
They are looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on Chief Commercial Officer to lead their commercial growth and help to scale sustainably across Europe and beyond.
Tasks
As CCO, you will drive our go-to-market strategy and lead all customer-facing functions - including sales, marketing, and customer success. You will be both a strategic thinker and an active doer: pitching to new clients, refining our value proposition, and building a high-performing commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the commercial strategy to accelerate growth and strengthen our position in the renewable energy sector.
- Own revenue generation - from lead generation to deal closing, ensuring consistent pipeline development and conversion.
- Actively engage in sales activities, including pitching to potential clients, negotiating contracts, and managing key accounts. Expect to hear “no” often - and turn it into valuable insight for the next opportunity.
- Build and scale the sales team, including hiring, coaching, and establishing scalable sales processes.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership team to align commercial goals with product and operational strategy.
- Develop partnerships within the renewable energy ecosystem (operators, technology providers, investors).
- Oversee marketing and brand positioning, ensuring a strong, mission-driven market presence.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to track commercial performance and inform data-driven decision-making.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Proven track record in a senior commercial, sales, or business development role; ideally in cleantech, energy, SaaS, or AI-driven technology.
- Strong hands-on approach - you enjoy being directly involved in customer conversations and closing deals.
- Experience in building and scaling sales teams in a startup or growth-stage environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Strategic mindset combined with a data-driven and execution-oriented approach.
- Comfort with working remotely and collaboratively across time zones.
- Fluent in English (other European languages are a plus).
