Job Purpose - Business Development for Birdbox, an integrated farm management system for laying hen farms.

FAI is looking for a Birdbox Technical Sales Lead with established knowledge and experience within the laying hen industry to join our team in a full-time role. The role will support FAI's Commercial and Business Development teams, working alongside existing product and account teams to help develop and expand Birdbox sales.

FAI BirdBox is a poultry farm management tool that utilises automated sensors for real-time insights. The digital ‘flockbook’ and in-shed hardware collate, analyse and report critical flock information to support daily farm management and deliver better productivity, animal welfare and sustainability in the poultry industry.

FAI Insite is an innovative tool that allows food industry actors to efficiently and accurately collect, monitor, and report key food animal welfare and sustainability metrics across global supply chains. Data is analysed by FAI’s team of experts to provide intuitive dashboards and reporting outputs that deliver key, tailored insights, enabling identification of risks and opportunities for strategic action to drive food system improvement.

FAI Academy & Enterprise E-learning is online agri- and aqua-culture learning through a dedicated cloud-based training platform – Enterprise, and an academy website – FAI Academy. We design and host courses that are tailored to specific audiences, meet the needs of diverse learners, are accessible and easy to navigate, and use a variety of assessment techniques per learning objective. Key courses include 1) Regenerative Farming and 2) the welfare of tilapia, carp, and shrimp.

Tasks

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Finding prospects and delivering a professional presentation of our company and products
  • Securing new clients to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Managing existing clients and developing the business opportunities and relationship
  • Communicating and coordinating within FAI team to deliver individual and company targets
  • Liaison with product group and Finance to optimise invoicing and profitable sales
  • Developing in depth product and market knowledge

Requirements

Key Skills/Experience

  • Extensive experience of US and wider global cage-free laying hen markets (including barn, free-range, and organic production)
  • Agri-industry sales background, ideally including technology sales and management
  • Proven track record of developing business opportunties
  • Extensive network across US laying hen sector
  • 5 years+ business development, sales activity, conducting negotiations and closing contracts.
  • Fluent English required; additional languages would be beneficial.

  • Strong communications skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with a high degree of initative

Desirable Qualifications

  • 5 years+ experience working in agriculture sector
  • Industry training or degree in agriculture, animal science or similar related discipline
  • In depth technical knowledge and experience of poultry and laying hen farming systems
  • Experience of industry application of hardware, sensors, and analytical technology in the poultry market

Additional Information

  • Travel within US, with some international travel required
  • This postion is for a remote/home-based role in the USA

Benefits

  • Position: full time, permanent
  • Location: Must be US based with current right to work in the US. This is a remote, home-based role with travel to client meetings within the US. Some international travel for client and team meetings wil be required.
