Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Product Expert for International Accounting and Controlling. This is a critical role that bridges the gap between global financial regulations and our software development. You will be the subject matter expert responsible for analyzing, defining, and specifying the financial and legal requirements for various countries across Europe and beyond. Your primary mission will be to translate complex accounting standards, legal mandates, and local business practices into clear, actionable requirements for our development teams. You will ensure that our ERP solution is not only compliant but also provides a competitive edge for our international customers.
Tasks
- Requirement Analysis & Definition: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial accounting, controlling, and legal reporting requirements for a portfolio of European and non-European countries.
- Expert Collaboration: Work closely with a network of local accounting advisors, tax consultants, and legal experts to identify, interpret, and validate country-specific regulations and best practices.
- Specification Development: Translate complex regulatory texts and business processes into clear, structured, and unambiguous software requirements (e.g., user stories, functional specifications, process flows, and data models).
- Bridging a Knowledge Gap: Serve as the primary liaison and "translator" between local country experts and the software development teams, ensuring a clear and accurate transfer of knowledge.
- Scope Management: Define and document requirements for a wide range of topics, including: Core accounting standards (e.g. HGB, IFRS and local GAAPs). Legal and fiscal mandates, such as e-invoicing, digital tax reporting (e.g., SAF-T, MTD), and data retention/audit policies (e.g., GoBD, FEC). Local financial reporting, including specific chart of accounts structures, balance sheets, and P&L formats. Month-end and year-end financial closing procedures. Controlling and management accounting methodologies.
- Product Lifecycle Involvement: Coordinate the requirements lifecycle from initial analysis through development, quality assurance, and final release, ensuring the implemented solution meets the original specifications.
- Stay Current: Proactively monitor changes in international financial legislation and accounting standards to build and maintain a long-term product roadmap that ensures ongoing compliance.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in a senior accounting, audit, or controlling role within a multinational corporation or a major accounting firm.
- Deep Domain Knowledge: Profound expertise in major accounting standards and a proven ability to quickly learn and master various local GAAPs.
- Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of how financial processes are implemented in ERP systems. Direct experience as a power user, consultant, or product specialist for an ERP system is highly desirable.
- Analytical Prowess: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a talent for distilling complex, unstructured information into concise and logical requirements.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Must be fluent in English. Ability to effectively communicate with both technical developers and non-technical finance professionals is essential.
