Something Big Is Happening in Erbil. Be Part of It.

Over the past three years, something remarkable has been taking place in a small campuss in erbil. Children as young as five are building robots. Teenagers are creating AI tools that detect diseases and read emotions. Kids who once thought technology was something that happened to them are now the ones making it happen.

That's The Code Lab. And we're just getting started.

We're Looking for Two Passionate Educators to Join Our Team

This isn't a tutoring job. It isn't a side gig. It's an opportunity to be part of a growing movement that is genuinely changing how the next generation of Kurdistan thinks about technology, creativity, and their own potential.

At The Code Lab, our teachers don't just deliver lessons — they spark moments. They're the reason a 9-year-old goes home and can't stop talking about what they built today. They're the reason parents message us saying their child has finally found something they love. They're the reason this city is quietly producing some of the most impressive young tech talent in the region.

Who We're Looking For

You don't have to be the most technically advanced person in the room. But you do have to care — deeply — about young people and about the future you're helping them build.

You're the right person if:

  • You light up when a student finally understands something difficult
  • You believe technology should empower people, not intimidate them
  • You're curious, adaptable, and always learning yourself
  • You want your work to mean something beyond a monthly salary
  • You're excited by the idea of being part of something that is growing fast and going somewhere

Experience in coding, robotics, AI, or STEM education is a strong advantage. But passion and the right mindset will always matter more to us than a perfect CV.

What You'll Be Part Of

  • A team that genuinely cares about its mission and each other
  • A learning environment that is hands-on, creative, and never boring
  • Programs that have been recognized by government officials, international organizations, and hundreds of families across Erbil
  • A community of students who will remember you — because great teachers always leave a mark
  • An organization that is expanding, evolving, and building something that will outlast all of us

Two Positions Are Now Open

We are currently expanding our team and welcoming applications for two teaching positions at The Code Lab. Details of the roles, schedule, and compensation will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

If you've read this far and something in you is saying yes — that's the sign.

Tasks

Teaching & Delivery

  • Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons in coding, robotics, and AI for students aged 5–17
  • Adapt teaching style and content to different age groups and skill levels within the same program structure
  • Guide students through project-based learning — from idea to finished, working product
  • Manage classroom dynamics and maintain a positive, focused, and creative learning environment
  • Supervise and support student projects during open lab and workshop sessions

Curriculum & Content

  • Follow and deliver The Code Lab's established curriculum accurately and consistently
  • Suggest improvements to lesson plans based on student feedback and classroom experience
  • Prepare session materials, handouts, and project guides as needed
  • Stay current with developments in coding education, AI tools, and youth technology trends

Student Development

  • Track individual student progress and provide constructive, encouraging feedback
  • Identify students who need extra support or are ready to be challenged further
  • Prepare students for showcases, exhibitions, and public presentations
  • Communicate student progress to parents clearly and professionally when needed

Team & Operations

  • Collaborate closely with co-instructors and the program team
  • Contribute to the planning of special events, summer bootcamps, and partner school programs
  • Represent The Code Lab professionally at all times — inside and outside the classroom
  • Assist with light administrative tasks related to class attendance and session reporting

Requirements

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Software Egnineering, Information Technology, Education, or a related field
  • Strong practical coding skills — proficiency in at least two of the following: Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or similar
  • Fluency in Kurdish and English — both spoken and written, both are required for instruction
  • Genuine passion for working with children and young people
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, encouraging teaching personality
  • Ability to work 8 hours per day, 6 days per week including Fridays and during summer intensives
  • Female candidates are preferred given our student age groups and classroom environment

Preferred (Strong Advantage)

  • Prior teaching, tutoring, or instructional experience — formal or informal
  • Familiarity with robotics platforms such as BBC Micro:bit, Arduino, or mBot
  • Basic understanding of AI concepts and tools — Teachable Machine, ML for Kids, or similar
  • Proficiency in Arabic or Turkish as additional languages
  • Experience working with children aged 5–10 specifically

Personal Qualities We Value Above Everything

  • You believe technology can change lives — and you want to be the one who shows kids how
  • You're a lifelong learner who doesn't pretend to know everything
  • You stay calm, creative, and encouraging even when a lesson doesn't go as planned
  • You take ownership — of your classroom, your students' progress, and your own growth
  • You want to be part of something meaningful, not just fill a position
