Bees & Bears

Finance & Risk Intern (m/w/d) - Climate FinTech (Berlin)

Internship
Finance

You don’t want an ordinary job. You want to build something that truly matters. Be part of shaping it from day one, move fast, and feel your impact. In a startup that doesn’t ask if something is possible – but how fast. Then you’ve come to the right place! 🌍

At Bees & Bears, we’re a Climate FinTech on a mission to unlock capital for the energy transition. We believe finance is the key to accelerating the shift toward a sustainable future. The challenge ahead is massive: by 2050, the world needs to invest €150 trillion (!) to reach climate neutrality. 65% of this investment will need to be financed through loans.

Our mission is to channel capital into the sustainable economy — to accelerate the transition and make the world greener.

What we do:

We work closely with installers of climate hardware such as solar systems, battery storage, and heat pumps — enabling their customers to finance installations easily through monthly installments. Our platform provides the technical and financial foundation to make this happen. In doing so, we’re actively accelerating the energy transition — for households, for our partners, and for the planet.

We’ve recently secured €500 million in funding commitments to green 25,000 households over the next two years. Prior to that, we raised a Pre-Seed round backed by several renowned VCs — and we’ve been growing rapidly ever since.

As a Finance & Risk Intern, you’ll work at the intersection of strategy, finance, and operations. You'll take on real responsibility in a fast-paced growth environment and help build structures, scale processes, and implement innovative financing models.

Tasks

As a Finance & Risk Intern, you’ll work at the intersection of strategy, credit risk, and operations. You’ll gain full insight into how a modern lending operation works and take responsibility from day one.

  • Risk Assessment & Analysis:

Support in reviewing end customers and partners, as well as in improving internal risk evaluation processes.

  • Financial Reporting:

Contribute to the preparation and development of financial reports for internal analyses and external stakeholders.

  • Process Optimization:

Analyze and enhance existing workflows in the Finance & Risk area with a focus on efficiency and scalability.

  • Ad-hoc Analyses & Operational Support:

Handle ongoing tasks and questions related to payments, reporting, and financial processes.

Requirements

  • You are passionate about climate action and sustainability and want to learn more while making a real impact.
  • You are currently pursuing or have already completed an advanced degree in economics, natural sciences, or a related field with a strong analytical or financial focus.
  • You have gained initial practical experience — through internships, student jobs, or volunteer work.
  • You work in a structured and detail-oriented way and take full ownership of your responsibilities.
  • You are very confident working with tools like Excel and ideally have experience in digital work environments. Bonus: experience with SQL, Python, or finance tools
  • You communicate clearly, professionally, and with your audience in mind — and you enjoy diving into complex topics.
  • You have fluent English skills, both written and spoken, and you’re available to support us on-site in Berlin for three to six months. German language skills are a plus.

If you don't meet every single criterion but are excited about the role and ready to take on responsibility — we’d still love to hear from you!

Benefits

  • Work side-by-side with our experienced founders — Marius (3x founder) and Jakob (2x founder). It’s the perfect launchpad if you're thinking about starting your own venture.
  • Guaranteed impact: Every deal your team closes contributes directly to the energy transition and saves at least dozens of tons of CO₂ emissions.
  • Keep learning — continuously explore the latest climate tech developments, from cutting-edge energy storage solutions to innovative recycling methods or heat recovery from wastewater.
  • No progress without mistakes. We encourage you to try things out, take ownership, and get hands-on insights across all areas of the startup.
  • 🐝 & 🍻 By day, we’re driving the green transformation — but we make sure to have fun along the way. We’re a close-knit, young team that enjoys regular events and post-work “Bees & Beers” hangouts.

Your expected application process:

  1. Short intro call (15 min)

A quick first chat to get to know each other and see if there’s a general fit.

  1. Technical interview with Jakob (Co-Founder, Capital)

You’ll speak directly with Jakob about your background and key topics in the finance space.

  1. Take-home case study + review with Jakob

You’ll receive a practical task to complete independently, followed by a detailed discussion with Jakob.

  1. Final interview with Marius (Co-Founder, Distribution)

To wrap things up, you’ll meet Marius, gain insight into our long-term vision, and see if it’s a personal match as well.

What matters to us:

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do – not only in our product but also in our decisions, processes, and how we work together.

We believe in the power of diverse perspectives. We explicitly encourage people from all backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life to apply.

If you’re excited to build something meaningful that creates long-term impact, we’d truly love to hear from you.
