apeirum partners with European engineering companies to place senior software talent. For one of our client partners — an established engineering company in Barcelona — we're hiring a Simulation Engineer for Robotic Drive Systems to build and evolve an internal simulation & visualization platform used in complex engineering design.
As a our new Simulation Engineer for Robotic Drive Systems, you will develop and improve simulation capabilities for robotic actuators and drive systems. You will work on engineering models, simulation workflows, and visualization of drive behavior to support requirements engineering, system design, and performance evaluation. You will also contribute to the software tools and interfaces that make these simulations accessible and useful for engineering teams.
Tasks
- Develop, validate, and maintain simulation models for robotic drive systems, including motors, gearheads, sensors, controllers, and mechanical loads.
- Create simulation workflows to evaluate drive performance, thermal behavior, control response, and system-level requirements.
- Work closely with robotics, control, and application engineers to translate real-world drive behavior into reliable simulation models.
- Improve simulation accuracy, model usability, and visualization of key drive-system parameters.
- Support the development of user-friendly simulation interfaces, dashboards, or web-based tools that help engineers configure, run, and interpret simulations.
- Contribute to simulation methods, validation approaches, reusable model libraries, and supporting software tools for robotic drives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with simulation, modeling, or system analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, or similar.
- Strong interest in robotic actuators, drive systems, control engineering, and mechatronic system behavior.
- Ability to analyze simulation results, compare them with measurements, and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Programming skills in Python or similar languages are expected; experience with full-stack development, web interfaces, APIs, or data visualization is a strong advantage for building simulation tools.
- Based in Spain (Barcelona).
- Languages: English (professional); German a plus.
Benefits
- Work on a simulation tool at the core of robotic drive development.
- Exposure to real-world mechatronic and control challenges.
- A collaborative environment blending software engineering and applied robotics.
- A dynamic and friendly workplace in our Barcelona tech hub, combining startup energy with the stability of a Swiss industrial leader.
- International collaboration with global teams, especially in Switzerland, and external integration partners.
- Opportunities for continuous learning and growth through the internal academy and professional development programs.
- A permanent contract, competitive compensation, and flexible working hours supporting work–life balance.
