About the Position:
Angel Ventures is seeking a Finance & Operations Associate to support the senior leadership team in overseeing the financial operations of both the venture capital funds and the operating company. The position requires a strong foundation in accounting, financial reporting, and analytical skills, along with the ability to operate independently in a dynamic and detail-oriented environment.
The role combines responsibilities across fund accounting, tax management, financial planning, and investment support. The selected candidate will serve as a liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting, compliance, and analysis.
This position offers exposure to core fund management processes, investor reporting, and deal evaluation, with a long-term path for professional development within the organization.
Reporting Line: This position reports directly to a Partner at Angel Ventures and may supervise junior and senior analysts or interns whose time is shared across teams.
Tasks
Fund and Corporate Finance
- Maintain accurate accounting records for multiple entities in accordance with IFRS and Mexican GAAP.
- Operate and maintain records in QuickBooks or equivalent platforms.
- Assist preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including investor business review reports.
- Reconcile capital accounts, track cash flows, and oversee financial controls.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors in both Mexico and the United States to prepare tax returns of Angel Ventures’ investment vehicles.
- Ensure timely delivery of compliance documentation and audit materials.
Financial Planning and Operational Analysis
- Conduct cost analysis and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
- Contribute to corporate budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Assist in improving internal financial tracking tools and dashboards.
Investment and Portfolio Support
- Perform investment analysis and financial modeling for prospective investments.
- Support portfolio company reviews and prepare performance tracking reports.
- Contribute to internal investment memoranda and documentation.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in consulting, audit, financial advisory and/or accounting firms.
- Strong finance and analytical skills and outstanding proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms.
- Understanding of accounting methodologies and principles, including MX GAAP and IFRS, and ability to apply them to complex financial transactions and investments.
- Full professional fluency in English (spoken and written), as 50% of work will be carried out in that language.
- Familiarity with business analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python) is a plus.
Skillset
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Experience coordinating with external service providers (auditors, tax advisors, etc.).
- Interest in venture capital and exposure to investment analysis.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas and concepts in simple terms.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate interest in startups, entrepreneurship, technology and alternative asset investments.
