THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on Video Systems Engineer to operate the technical backbone behind our content delivery — for linear TV channels and video-on-demand. You will manage systems and configurations to ensure seamless processes from ingestion to delivery. In this deeply operational role, you will work on all video content available on the Zattoo platform and collaborate with teams from different departments like Product, Content, and Data Center to ensure the best experience for our users and tenants.

THE VIDEO OPERATIONS TEAM

You'll join the team responsible for everything between the satellite dish and the viewer's screen — headend operations, satellite and IP ingest, encoding, and channel configuration across our entire live TV lineup.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Configure new and maintain existing linear TV channels on the Zattoo platform, including capabilities like catch-up, subtitles, HbbTV
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on channel acquisition to ensure a fast integration and smooth operations
• Own and maintain our DVB-S headends in close collaboration with the data center team, configuring FTA and encrypted satellite ingests and planning needed capacities
• Coordinate the integration of IP signal providers, plan topics like bandwidth, redundancy, and other technical parameters, or via SRT, ZiXi, and similar
• Support the VOD ingestion process
• Configure and manage the different server pools, which are used for encoding and transcoding
• Procure, configure and maintain all the professional equipment and software
• Maintain configuration and document relevant specifications to have easy access to a catalogue of channels existing on the platform
• Diagnose and resolve faults across the signal chain
• Support monitoring, alerting and incident response

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Hands-on experience configuring, managing and maintaining linear TV channels on a broadcast or streaming platform
• Solid understanding of the DVB standards, satellite fundamentals, as well as standards such as MPEG-TS
• Experience configuring and maintaining professional satellite receivers and IRDs (e.g. Teleste, AppearTV).
• Practical knowledge of encoding and transcoding - encoding parameters, audio track handling and subtitle integration.
• Familiarity with low-latency ingest protocols such as SRT and Zixi.
• Comfortable with structured fault diagnosis, also under pressure
• Good communication skills

• Bonus:

  • Scripting skills in Python or Bash for automation
  • Knowledge of FAST channels and SCTE-35 markers
  • Familiarity with IP multicast and content protection, or a genuine interest and understanding of the TV and broadcast industry landscape
