VP of Product

We are a Berlin-based startup that has successfully established a leading B2B marketplace for industrial metals across Europe.

The multi-billion-euro metal trading industry is operated on Excel, PDF and Email. We are on a mission to transform buying and selling in one of the oldest industries of the modern world with seamless and intuitive digital solutions. Our technologies increase liquidity, accelerate transactions, reduce scrapping rates and enhance buying convenience for hundreds of steel and metal distributors across Europe.

As a lean team of young, international, and passionate talents, we've recently reached breakeven and are gearing up for the next phase of growth.

The Opportunity

Join our VC-backed company during this exciting phase of growth. As the VP of Product, you'll spearhead our data-centric approach to supercharge our trading activities through technology and innovation. You will be responsible for co-developing the product vision and roadmap and owning the product pipeline to ensure we are always shipping and constantly delivering value to users.

This position is based full-time in our vibrant Berlin office. We believe that working together in a dynamic office setting fosters collaboration and accelerates the growth of our ambitious startup.

Co-develop a data-centric product vision and roadmap in close coordination with our existing Founder team that aligns with business priorities and customer needs.

• Build and lead a cross-functional team of Engineers, Data Scientists, Designers, and Product Managers to bring the product vision to life, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize output.
• Prioritize initiatives and features based on their potential impact on business goals, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative insights.
• Embrace a "don't make the wheel again" mindset, comparing third-party integrations with own software development to enhance product functionality and to meet evolving needs.
• Drive the development of rapid prototypes and MVPs in close collaboration with customers and customer-facing teams.
• Own the product pipeline and maintain a high velocity of product development, based on a strong understanding of user needs, great product intuition and rigorous analytics
• Define and track key performance metrics, analyze product performance and user engagement to drive continuous improvement.

• Entrepreneurial Drive: Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to think creatively in a dynamic startup environment, recognize opportunities and change strategies as needed.
• Experience: Proven track record in building world-class products in product-first companies before, ideally B2B Marketplaces as Product Manager. Additional experience as a Software Developer, Product Designer or CPO is a strong advantage.
• Product Development: Experience in rapid prototyping, UI/UX design, backlog management, user story formulation, quality assurance and release planning
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of innovation, ownership and performance.
• Ownership & Autonomy: Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and a continuous learning mindset.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills in English to make technical concepts understandable to non-technical stakeholders and foster collaboration between teams.Passion for Learning: Eagerness to stay updated with current research in technology and AI

Nice-to-Haves:

• AI Systems: Exposure to AI in a professional environment or at least in your free time
• Technical Skills: Professional exposure to TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras or other AI/ML libraries
• Experience or familiarity with various technologies and programming languages
