About Urban Connect
At Urban Connect, we're rethinking the way companies move.
We build and operate a fully integrated mobility platform – from fully serviced shared corporate e-bikes and car fleets to our own smart parking and EV charging operating systems – all seamlessly connected through a single user application and admin portal. We work with some of Switzerland's largest companies and real estate operators, and we're growing fast.
Our operations team is the backbone of everything we deliver: fleet management, hardware deployment, maintenance, and customer service across some of Switzerland's largest corporate campuses. We're looking for an exceptional Operations Engineer to help scale the operational engine behind our growth.
Tasks
Your role
You'll be a hands-on operator and project manager sitting at the intersection of hardware, software, and real-world delivery. Someone who can own projects end-to-end, solve problems on the ground, and bring structure to a fast-moving operation.
We're looking for an engineering mindset, a project management backbone, and the kind of ownership mentality that thrives in a startup where no task is beneath you. Whether you're a recent graduate with exceptional drive or someone with years of operational experience – what matters is how you think and how you work.
Your you bring
- Own and drive operational projects end-to-end: from planning through execution to handover. This includes hardware deployments (parking systems, EV charging, e-bike stations), fleet onboarding, and process improvements.
- Set up and refine operational processes that scale: SOPs, checklists, escalation procedures, monitoring routines – the kind of structure that lets a small team operate like a much bigger one.
- Coordinate hardware installations at customer sites: site assessments, installation planning, commissioning, and quality assurance.
- Manage day-to-day fleet operations: vehicle and e-bike availability, maintenance coordination, supplier communication, and issue resolution.
- Work with external partners: maintenance providers, hardware suppliers, installation teams. Manage timelines, quality, and deliverables.
- Support procurement processes: sourcing, vendor evaluation, order management, and inventory tracking for spare parts and equipment.
- Collaborate closely with the tech team on hardware-software integration, IoT monitoring, and operational tooling needs. You understand both worlds and can bridge them.
- Analyse operational data to identify inefficiencies, track KPIs (fleet uptime, maintenance costs, response times), and drive continuous improvement.
- Support customer onboarding from the operations side: ensure what was sold gets delivered on time and to spec – and that the customer experience is excellent from day one.
In short: you make things work in the real world – reliably, efficiently, and at growing scale.
Requirements
What you bring
- A degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial, software, or similar).
- Strong project management skills: you can plan a complex rollout, track 20 moving parts, and still hit the deadline.
- Comfortable at the intersection of hardware and software: you don't need to code, but you understand how connected systems work and can troubleshoot across domains.
- Hands-on mentality: you're happy being on-site for an installation one day and building a process document the next.
- Strong analytical skills: you work with data to make decisions, not gut feel.
- Ownership mindset: you take responsibility, follow through, and don't wait to be told what to do.
- Clear communicator who works well with engineers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
- Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken.
Nice to Have
- Experience in mobility, fleet management, EV charging, or smart infrastructure.
- Familiarity with IoT systems, sensors, or connected hardware.
- Experience with operational tooling, ticketing systems, or ERP/inventory management.
- French and/or Swiss German.
